On behalf of the Rotaract Club of Subiaco I would like to invite you
to the End of Polio Breakfast hosted by our Club.
The End of Polio Breakfast is primarily to increase the Western Australian
community’s awareness of Rotary International’s cause to End Polio Now.
In October, leaders of all the Commonwealth nations will travel to Perth for CHOGM.
3 of the 4 countries in which Polio is still endemic are members of the Commonwealth.
CHOGM provides a perfect opportunity to get an international commitment to end this disease.
Please join us for breakfast a month out from CHOGM
to show your support for the push to End Polio.
The End of Polio Breakfast will be held at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre
 on Wednesday, 5 October 2011, from 7-9am.
We aim to present to the public the relationship between Rotaract and Rotary
and our commitment to the Global Polio Eradication Initiative.
The Rotaract Club of Subiaco will be hosting the Breakfast
with the support of Rotary and assistance of a team from the Global Poverty Project
who have organised the guest speakers for the event.
Our Club is seeking the involvement of Rotary Clubs in Western Australia
with promotion and attendance at the event.
Tickets for the Breakfast are available onwww.trybooking.com/QKD.
The early bird special available until 30 June 2011 is $50 per ticket or $360 for a table of 8.
For further information please visithttp://www.subiaco-rotaract.org.au/endpolio.
We hope you and your club will be able to attend the breakfast. Your support is valued by our Club.
Yours sincerely,
Dr Shiva Senathirajah
President Rotaract Club of Subiaco

Rotary Club of Rossmoyne
Our participants in RYPEN wereAaron O’Reilly and Jessica Smith,
whospoke briefly ontheir experiences at Wokalup camp.
It started at 06:00 each morning with an alarm playing the StarWars theme,
then a run through the bush in temperatures of 4 degrees,
before a session of “apple bobbing” to completely eliminate any traces of sleep.
Aaron enjoyed the flying fox and rope courses,
while Jessica appreciated the teamwork exercises and money management training.
Both gained a great deal from their experience, and encourage
the Club’s continued participation in the programme.

WHICH ONE ARE YOU?

Some members keep a club so strong
While others just belong.
Some dig right in, some serve with pride
Some go along just for the ride.
Some volunteer to do their share
While some lie back and just don’t care
Some always pay their dues ahead,
Some get behind for weeks instead.
Some do their best, some build, some make
Some do nothing, but only take.
Some lag behind and let things go
Some never help their club to grow.
Some drag, some pull, some don’t, some do
Which one are you?

----------
Do you know the origins of singing at Rotary meetings?
It was started by Harry Reynolds –
the fifth person to join Rotary
–in response to what he deemed unsuitable language at a Rotary meeting.
When such language was used he started to sing “Let me call you Sweetheart”
and the practice became custom

On a lighter note

Mark Twain once said :
"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things
that you didn't do than by the ones you did do.
 So throw off the bowlines.
Sail away from the safe harbor.
Catch the trade winds in your sails.
Explore
. Dream.
 Discover"
