MEDIA RELEASE: “DR HAPPY” Joins HAT DAY
to Shine a Light
on Mental Health
Help Raise Funds to Prevent Mental Illness in the
Workplace
Dr Happy, Chief Happiness Officer at the Happiness Institute
and clinical psychologist Tim Sharp, said, he is thrilled to be part of this
unique
and exciting initiative to help prevent mental illness,
with a focus in
the workplace.
“Positive organisational cultures are associated
with higher
levels of engagement and also,
better performance and productivity.
In simple
terms, happy workers are better workers,” said Dr Happy
who has written many
books about happiness
and is about to publish his next book with a 30-day
challenge
- Happiness in the Workplace.
The annual cost of mental illness in Australia
has been
estimated at $20 billion, which includes
the cost of lost productivity and
labour force participation.
Mental illness is the leading cause of sickness
absence
and long-term work incapacity.
CEO Australian Rotary Health, Joy Gillett said that National
Hat Day
will shine a light on mental health for everyone in our community,
and
with Dr Happy, there will be a special focus
on good mental health in the
workplace.
Dr Happy says a workplace that promotes real mental health
will be a better workplace in so many ways.

and community minded young lady and, while there were many students
who could
easily receive this Award,
there is no doubt that Marie is certainly a very
worthy winner
