More from the Clubs

Rotary Club of Mosman Park

In 2011 our Club was invited to join a group recently formed
by the Hillarys Rotary Club which is involved in educational and health programs in East Timor.
The group then consisted of Rotary Clubs of Hillarys, Applecross,
Jersey (UK) and the Hillarys Soroptimist Club.

In the past twelve months, with your help with funding, we have:
 built a toilet block at the Hatolia Primary School
 built a dormitory for the secondary school in Hatolia

We are currently involved in a primary teacher training program
at Baboe Leten in the Atsabe District which has 10 teachers and 270 children.
The primary teacher training program is a proven program
that has been ongoing for the past 4 or 5 years at schools in the Ermera District.
Later in the year we are planning a similar program in
another Primary School in the Atsabe District.
We are being assisted in this program by the Friends of Ermera,
a volunteer group in Casey, Victoria
who have all the necessary local contacts
and knowledge of the education policies and personnel in East Timor.
The Bentley/Curtin Rotary Club is coordinating the collection and loading into containers
of WA Education Department surplus equipment for shipping to Dili
for distribution to schools in the Ermera and Atsabe Districts
 through their contacts in Dili.
 We are currently endeavouring
to source a sponsor to cover the cost of freight from Fremantle.

In President Bob's absence, PE Peter Durrany
 welcomed Ann Mitchell this evening,
who spoke eloquently about the magnificent Kimberley Dental Team

Kimberley Dental Team (KDT) – toothpaste drive

The Kimberley Dental Team is a joint project of the
Rotary clubs of Perth Heirisson and Kununurra
to provide desperately needed dental treatment
to remote indigenous communities in the Kimberley.
An important component is preventive treatment and oral hygiene.
If the team can provide toothpaste to all families who are seen in the program
it will be a big step in reducing the incidence of dental disease.
KDT can source freebie toothpaste in small sample tubes from the dental trade,
but feel that normal size tubes are more appropriate to the family situation
and are better for dispensing by the 180 teachers involved in the school program.
(42 schools approximately 4,000 children)
To this end a toothpaste drive involving D9455 clubs is planned.
This involves a toothpaste collection at a designated club meeting
where members bring in tube(s) of toothpaste
which the club boxes for collection or drop off.
Requirements are: –
·      Full-size tubes only.
·      Avoid desensitising toothpaste
 (e.g. Sensodyne) – offensive taste.

Collection (3 options)
·      Drop-off at Owen Homoeopathics
443 Great Eastern Highway Redcliff (near Airport)
·      Drop-off at District Conference
·      Drop-off at City Toyota (Wayne Smith)
63 Adelaide Terrace Perth.
·      Contact Wayne Smith for collection 0417917589
·      Give them to your AG their next visit to your club

This is recommended as a small, easy to run Club project
with no time limitation. KDT visits the Kimberley twice a year
(April and August) at which toothpaste is distributed.

100 Metre Dash

Do you know who this is??
answer below

As we all know, April 1st is that day we traditionally
play practical jokes on each other.

In this particular town it is the custom for such jokes to end at Noon.

Last April 1st, John and Big Hoss (two rookie policemen)
were patrolling the downtown business area.
They decided to stop into the local coffee shop for a coffee and a donut.

 The time was 11:55 AM.

Three minutes later, they got a call on their police radio,

"33 in process, man in bank dressed as a banana."

Well there was only 1 bank in town;
in fact, it was just across from the coffee shop.
And a 33 was an "armed robbery",
but it was also just 11:58 AM.
John and Big Hoss decided it was the dispatcher

playing a joke on them.

They continued enjoying their coffee break.

At 12:01 PM, they got a second call on their radio,
 "Repeat, Urgent, 33 in process,

man in bank dressed as a banana."

Realizing it was past noon,
 they rushed across the street,
but arrived 30 seconds after the banana split.

there a 6 owls in this picture
Can you find them?

  1. Around 150 games in total, but that's relatively small compared to our users. While having a passion for playing games is important, getting a rewarding career in game design will require students to be a cut above the competition. It fizzles as the lights go out, and she says it's
    been great talking to you.
