We recognised our newest Honorary Members -
who have given many years of service to our club,
are still an active part of our club,
but absolved of being coaxed to take on board roles in the future!
Thanks for your service, Charlie, John, Geoff, and Frank!
Previously we also welcomed Bruce to Honorary Rotarian status!

As you are aware, Haiti is in crisis after a 7.2 magnitude earthquake

hit the country last month.

More than 135,000 homes are reported to be damaged

or destroyed and over 2,200 fatalities have been confirmed.

ShelterBox has sent a team to the Caribbean region

to support people who have lost their homes.

Over the coming weeks we will be providing essential items

that families desperately need, including shelter kits,

blankets, solar lights, and basic household items.

As a valued supporter, I would like to personally invite you to a

 special response Q&A event

with myself, taking place at 7:30pm (AEST)

 on Wednesday 15th September.

Come along to learn more about this emergency deployment,

have your questions answered,

and discover how every dollar will help.

I hope to see you there,

                                                         Mike Greenslade

KNITTERS.

Hill tribe children in northern Thailand need your help. Booragoon Rotary Club

sponsors a hostel and school in the Golden Triangle area.

At this time of year night-time temperatures plummet to 7 degrees.

The children take their shoes off to come inside. They have no socks.

The hostel manager says knitted socks would be very welcome.

The hostel has 98 children aged 0 to 6, 200 children aged 7 to 14 and 100 children aged over 14.

Photo1 is of the sort of slippers normally used.

The other is of some of the kids helped by our Borderless Friendship Foundation.

Now, can you help, please? Barb Kitto

The Rotary Club of Western Endeavour has been supporting

the rural poor in North-western Cambodia for several years

through the funding of basic improved water access projects

and the installation of rudimentary latrine systems.

A small investment goes a long way in these poor communities.

Judy Dinnison will summarise the oveching problem

in developing countries and describe some of the projects

the RCWE has funded, their management and outcomes.

While we can't be with our friends in Bali, technology has not allowed us to attend

this year's Bali School Kids Virtual Distribution Day.

Big thanks to

Rotary Club Of Bali Denpasar Swan Rotary

for this amazing project.

We miss you all and hope we can visit you all again soon.

Stay safe.

The Rotary club of Willetton extends an invitation to you ( and your guest)

to attend our next guest speaker night on Wednesday 15th September 2021

at The Melville Glades Golf Club, Beazley Rd Leeming , 6.15 pm for 6.45 pm.

Our guest speaker is Fleur Massey,

and the subject is " Blue Guardians"

Fleur Massey has served in the Royal Air Force, South Yorkshire Police

, and after emigrating to Western Australia in 2006,

 has served with WA Police.

Fleurs’ husband is also a veteran and currently a serving Police Officer

with 35 years’ experience of working on the front line.

In the past 25 years Fleur has gained a great deal of understanding

as to the challenges faced by those serving in the military

and the emergency services while also experiencing first-hand

how this service impacts their family.

Five years ago,

Fleur began researching the support provided to the service family.

Through this research gaps were identified and

 therefore Blue Guardians was born.

Blue Guardians now serves the First Responder

and Military community by providing information, education,

referrals to experts, support, and news.

Please join us for this very worthy initiative.

Maureen and Betty were lucky enough to spend a few days in Kununurra,

flying up on a Cobham jet as part of Rotary’s Blue Sky project.

They had a fantastic time, apparently what goes away stays away

but talking to them both it was a well organised event.

To see Lake Argyle and the Bungle Bungles from 5,000 feet

on a two hour “joy flight” was unforgettable

we managed to pin most of our new smaller board down
and give them their pins

A great night raising much needed funds to assist the homeless.

An awesome coin toss competition... and the winner is Charity!!

Well done Rick!

Thank you to everyone who attended our Women in Leadership event.

We had over 80 attendees to hear an inspiring story from Judge Charlotte Wallace.

Also huge thanks to Zoe Henham John Poulsen Sandy Anghie for Perth

for joining Charlotte on an insightful panel discussion.

Two fantastic pieces of advice from Judge Charlotte Wallace that resonated:

"Treat everyone with dignity and respect"

"Make decisions with head and heart"

Lastly a huge shout out to

Ingrid Kjelling Photography

for taking all these amazing photos on the night.

The Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI) provides a great opportunity

for Rotarians to update and expand their knowledge of Rotary

and for new Rotarians the greatest benefit you are likely

to get from this course is some knowledge about Rotary,

how it is structured, how it works and its wide breadth of programs.

You will meet Rotarians from other clubs and

share experiences and learn about different projects.

Attending RLI is excellent preparation for anyone who

is a director on their club’s board or who may be looking

to become a Club President,

or you may just want to be a Rotarian.

The broader understanding of Rotary and its programs

you will gain from attending RLI will give you

greater confidence to take on a leadership role in your club

 and to perform it effectively.

The RLI course is made up of TWO one day facilitated workshop.

All reading material is provided and there is no need

for prior preparation and there are no assignments.

There is no cost to your participation.

This is one of the services that your District provides

 to clubs and individual Rotarians.

The next group of workshops is being conducted

 on the following dates:

Part 1 October 3, 2021

Part 2 October 31, 2021

Were
