500

With a new Rotary District being created in Western Australia,

it is now time to seek nominations of qualified members from Clubs,

to be the District Governor Nominee (DGN) from Jan 2022.

The current District Boards of D9465 and D9455 have agreed

that the current District Governors should jointly convene

the Nominating Committee for the selection of the District Governor

for Rotary in Western Australia 2023-24.

You are therefore asked to consider nominating a qualified member of your Club

to be a candidate for District Governor for 2023-24.

The role of the District Governor, the qualifications necessary

and the importance of the position are covered in the extract

of the RI Bylaws (Attachment 1).

It is vitally important for the future of Rotary in Western Australia

that the very best candidates for DGN are nominated.

They should have a vision for Rotary in Western Australia

and be technologically adept,

as they will play a key role on the Transition Reference Group

which is currently shaping Rotary in Western Australia.

Please submit your nominations  via email, by 26th November 2021.

It is proposed that the District Nominating Committee (DNC)

will meet during week of the  6th December  2021.

The date/time will be set depending on the availability

of the DNC members and the candidates.

Please contact your current District Governor for more details

Celebrate diversity and inclusion and show the LGBTIQ community

of Perth that Rotary values the contributions of all people.

If you are interested in joining other Rotarians from District 9465 and 9455

in the Perth Pride Parade on the 27 November 2021,

please register through the following link.

Rotary International's Diversity and Inclusion Statement:

At Rotary, we understand that cultivating a diverse, equitable,

and inclusive culture is essential to realizing our vision of a world

where people unite and take action to create lasting change.

We value diversity and celebrate the contributions of people of all backgrounds,

across age, ethnicity, race, color, disability, learning style,

religion, faith, socioeconomic status, culture, marital status,

languages spoken, sex, sexual orientation, and gender identity

as well as differences in ideas, thoughts, values, and beliefs."

If you and any others interested in Rotary's commitment to Foodbank WA,

and helping disadvantaged families around our state this festive season,

are invited to the Give a Feed 2021 Launch.

Please contact Heirisson Rotary's President, Don Burnside,

directly to RSVP, or to ask questions.

Alternately, you may click on the link below to attend or decline.

(You can note family and friends you've invited to attend.)

Should you also wish to enjoy a meal from Steelo's,

 please book that separately here.

We invite you to join us in launching 2021's "Give a Feed" campaign,

with Aggie Przybylo from Foodbank WA.

We hope to roar past the 25,000 hamper,

$500,000 raised and 50,000 fed milestones this festive season.

In 2021 we aim to create 3,000 hampers -

for families struggling to put Christmas meals on their tables.

The 2021 launch will be held at at Gloucester Park

on the evening of Tuesday 16 November.

Come for a casual a la carte meal from Steelo's from 6.00 pm

(Bookings) ..

. and enjoy the twilight trotting.

The meal and launch briefing (from 7.00 pm)

will be held in Quinnys Room (with a quiet drink to celebrate).

The “Give A Feed” project provides Christmas food hampers,

to vulnerable people, across WA, struggling to afford enough food to eat.

Foodbank WA helps bulk-buy produce and distribute the hampers.

Bulk-buying means hampers with retail values

two to three times the donation can be created.

Give a Feed involves "wholesale" generosity.

Every club and member can participate and help promote

this program in public, and across their business,

 professional and community networks.

It is a fantastic way of 'paying it forward' by encouraging corporate giving.

It can be a great Christmas recognition of staff, customers,

contractors and suppliers, family and friends.

We hope you can attend.

For details on Give a Feed or to donate hampers, see:

10th of December is World Human Rights Day

and at ShelterBox we believe that shelter is a human right.

We know our supporters believe it too.

Last year, our inaugural Giving Day raised a whopping $132,000

and this year we're hoping to do even better.

We are seeking donations to our matched giving fund

and encouraging supporters to organise

their own event to raise finds and awareness for disaster relief.

Shelley, Gail and Joyce, Heather, Keith & Ian,
Colin and John all showing they have the Snap, Send, Solve’ app and some the t-shirts.

At the Attadale Rotary meeting last week a very interesting talk

was done by the Club’s very own Rotary member Keith McNaught.

Keith spoke about ‘Snap, Send, Solve which is an App for reporting

non criminal issues to a variety of authorities.

When introducing Keith, Gail McCulloch spoke about Keith’s considerable talents

and experience, which were on show as Keith shared the success using the app.

It will be a very valuable tool throughout the State for everyone to have on their phones.

With our regular venue unavailable tonight due to a Melbourne Cup function,

members gathered instead to try some of our Club's fundraising wines.

To buy our wines, with proceeds going to the End Polio Now campaign

#rotaryclubofpalmbeach are proud to have officially handed over

to the Point Peron Rehabilitation Committee a replica

of the original M1917 gun

that protected our coast between 1942 and 1943.

This was the culmination of a three year long project.

The brainchild of Rotarian Ken Gray, actioned by Rotarian Laurie Smith

and Phil Edmand with a grant from the City of Rockingham.

Invaluable advice was provided by Phil Rowson

on all matters military related to Fortress Fremantle in WWII.

Special thanks to Adrian Watts, Spearwood Sheet Metal Fabricators

for his outstanding generosity and tradesmanship

in building the 1.5 ton 16 metre long gun.

A historic gift to Rockingham locals and visitors alike.

Today we had our annual strategic planning workshop at

The Platform Perth.

It is a chance for members to engage, collaborate and set the focus

and priorities for the Club for the coming year.

There were snacks, kittens and a short course

on beer glass sizes on the east coast.

Big thanks and a pat on the back to members Phillip and Alison

who did the hard work and put the workshop together,

it was a very worthwhile afternoon.

40 minutes late, so I’m expecting a fine!

Sold 20 tickets in 20 minutes so we’ve made up for it!
