What a start to conference weekend.

Yesterday evening, some of our members and partners

attended the Perth Childrens Hospital to meet with Foundation Members.

As many would know, we have our Rotary Club of Boulder

Perth Childrens Hospital Goldfields Family Assistance Trust Fund,

helping Goldfields families travel for medical reasons away from home.

This visit enabled us to strengthen friendships and continue

 our partnership with the Foundation,

who are doing great things themselves with projects including

the Bridge to Kings Park and WA's first Hospice,

which you can read more at the link below.

We were welcomed by Foundation Head of Fund-raising, Heiko Plange.

Foundation CEO Carrick Robinson then spoke to us about

what the last 12 months has meant for the Foundation

and updated us on their current projects, including the Bridge and Hospice.

Dr Lisa Cuddeford, Clinical lead of WA Paediatric and Palliative Care Services

then held a Q&A about the Hospice,

who is is being built for and some of the services it will provide.

A lot of information to take in over such a short time.

We then headed to Steve's in Nedlands for a sundowner and networking session.

Thanks to Karen De Lore, Manager of Community Engagement

for making us feel so welcome.

A huge thanks to our own partners in Triple M Goldfields

and their Give Me 5 For Kids Ambassodors

who enabled us to make a donation to the PCHGFATF of $15,000.

Mandurah's young leaders

of the future get digital detox

 at Rotary camp

"All the candidates felt the digital detox was up amongst

the highest benefit for them," admitted Skipper Vanpeer

after attending this year's Rotary Youth Leadership Awards seminar.

"We all lived in the moment with no distractions

or knowing what was going to happen next."

Along with fellow Mandurah attendee Michael Barret,

Skipper was sponsored to go to a seven-day intensive

leadership training event, thanks to the

Rotary Club of Mandurah Districts (RCMD).

"Skipper is already a leader in our community yet

she has grown so much after her camp," assistant governor

of the RCMD Marg Pantall said.

According to Skipper she made a heap of new friends

and bonded with others she wouldn't normally

have the opportunity to get to know.

"I learned things I didn't at home or school,"

Ms Vanpeer said.

"I learned so much about myself, gained self awareness

 and grew from the experience.

"I've come away so motivated and inspired."

Leah was at our club to promote her Scholarship group’s

One in a Million - Night of Recognition

‘RC Karrinyup is dedicated to ensuring that our potential leaders of tomorrow

have access and opportunity for development,

 regardless of their financial means.

For this reason the club has created and now offers

 the Diversity Scholarship Program.

The intention is to attract and support high calibre students,

young professionals, Indigenous Australians and people with disabilities

to become involved in our club, be our leaders of tomorrow

and to give back to the community.

Scholars will have opportunities to engage with and

learn from members across the Rotary community.

Some of the competencies, which the scholarship might assist

in building include, but are not limited to, self-confidence,

interpersonal skills, social and business etiquette,

public speaking, organising and running meetings,

leadership, project management and teamwork.

We are proud and excited to announce the launch of the

Vocational Service Diversity Scholarship Program.

This project enables young scholars the opportunity to engage

with and learn from members across the Rotary family

in an environment of leadership and community,

where everyone can contribute and benefit.

President Richard and Vocational Service Director Kay

were thrilled to have Rotary of Crawley’s President Elect Leah,

a recipient of a similar scholarship, along for the launch’.

Great to have our newest member, Jane, bring her daughter, Kate, along for last night’s meeting.

Congratulations to our Debating Team for taking victory at this year's

Morgan Smith Debating Challenge and retaining the coveted shield.

Rotary Club of Bunbury Leschenault

did a fine job at supporting the contentious topic of

"Should COVID-19 Vaccines be compulsory?".

.. but it was our defense that won in the end.

Thanks to our adjudicators and organisers and well done

to Ian Morison for winning the People's Choice award.

There's a lot of work behind the scenes from WA Rotarians

to support those affected by the Wooroloo fires

. Thanks to our committee and network,

BlazeAid Wooroloo

 On behalf of his business

Midland Supa IGA

Also add the large quantities of flour to be used for baking.
