worthy winners.
for the Rotary Club Karrinyup Local Artist

Robyn Jean
Portrait of Norma MacDonald
Medium - Fine art photographic print.
Judge’s comments:
This work beautifully captures the
essence of the sitter.
There is clearly a strong relationship between
the sitter and the artist here
- a reverence for the subject.
The artwork transposes the European canon and
expands on it
. There is accomplished use of light
and dark shadow.
It is technically excellent.
Photos shown here are by Miles Noel.
Marina van Leeuwen
5.48 Clotilde
Medium - Oil on canvas
Judge’s comments:
Beautiful colour and light,
painterly brush strokes and mark
making.
Not overworked, atmospheric.
A simple palette of soft greens and mauves
gives the work a lovely energy.
The painting works at different distances;
far, middle and close up.
It is almost abstract in composition
when close
. Complex narratives are suggested.

4 Western Force hunks and 6
Rotarians descended on
Laura and Paul West's house in Northam on
Wednesday
to help them after a fire in July resulted
in serious smoke damage over
their circa 1906 house.
The group emptied all of the
house and cleaned all moveable gear.
so that the Wests can now begin
to think of renovating.
A heartfelt message from the
Wests was received:
"Our family are grateful
beyond words for the tremendous efforts.
of various Rotary groups, the Western Force
Rugby team players,
and all the others who have generously given
of their time to help us.
The immense difference to our mental health
and outlook is phenomenal.
The team achieved in one day
what our family had been.
attempting for four months to
achieve.
I honestly cannot describe the
depth of our gratitude "
That's what Rotary and Rotarians
are all about!
God bless Rotarians everywhere!
