Fund,

Through a disaster response grant,
local Rotary members are working in their
communities.

for the
Goldfields
At this year's Rotary Convention,
Rotary
Club of Karrinyup members
made a commitment.
to send
three hundred EndTrachoma bags
to the
Goldfields.
In July we saw the first part of this
Convention
Commitment Fulfilled,
with the first one hundred bags delivered to
Kalgoorlie.
After a busy bee by the team,
the
second one hundred bags have now
been
sent to the Goldfields.
Due to storage issues in Kalgoorlie the final
contingent
will go
in the new year in time for the start of the school year.

as we heard about the projects

of the Rotary Club
of Armadale
the Rotary Club of Byford & Districts
and Rotary Southern Districts.
The location is very special,
a community centre run and managed
by Indigenous people,
the artwork is just awesome.

Last night our Club attended the
DG's visit presentations.
With DG Ineke and AG James,
the Rotary Clubs of Southern Districts,
Armadale,
and Byford & Districts
meet and celebrate our many and
varied service efforts.

Our District Governor Ineke 'walked'
us through the new Rotary WA profile,
with the many support arrangements that could
be secured from the district and
the zone.
Membership and PR is high on the focus areas
list as is the
new regionalisation model and the leadership
teams that
will make it happen. Well done everyone.
We’ve just had a night filled
with laughter and all things Rotary.

We had a very busy Club meeting
this week!
Firstly, Ellen Engelke our ARH
Indigenous Scholar
was along to give us an update on 2023.
Ellen spent the year in Albany & Albany
Hospital as part of her.
Curtin University studies for a
Bachelor of Medicine.
Being from Kununurra, took some time.
to adapt to the Albany winter!
We wish Ellen all the best for her exams,
and her last year next year.

handed a Certificate of Appreciation
to Lydia Richardson from Como SC
for her great support over the
year to Susanne
with the Como SC Interact Club.
The Club is thriving with community projects.
undertaken in each school term.

wonderful commitment in supporting the Club.
Our guest speaker, PDG Jerry
Pilcher, & ARH Director,
gave an excellent strategic
update of ARH across Australia,
and future direction with mental health
research
for children up to 12 years
. Research has confirmed this is
where mental health issues all start,
with the disturbing statistic
that as at “today”
there are 580,000 children across Australia
under 12 years.

illness!
This is why ARH are so focussed
on research to deliver answers.
and remedial programs to
address.
Como Rotary as with many other
Clubs is playing its part.
with ARH donations now over $60,000, over past
40 years.

recognises senior’s week.
and our older folk in the Shire.
With Bingo going well
and supporting many seniors and
others,
we also celebrate the formation of a
new Croquet Club in the Shire.
Rotary is pleased to support this new
inclusive adventure,
headed up by Marie Donovan.
All the best everyone.
So, a few weeks ago, Connor
Mallis from
and a few mates including local
Golf Pro Joost,
Goldfields Golfer Connor Fewkes,
Golf Course Superintendent Nial Rogan
and a few club members attempted.
(and completed) 100 Holes of
Golf to raise funds for
the Goldfields Family Assistance Fund.
Teeing off at first light, approx. 4.15am, the
team ended
up walking more than 62kms in
the day.
On top of that, Connor also broadcast his
breakfast show from 6am-9am.
Over $13,000 has been raised
from this event,
which is an amazing effort.
Huge thanks to all of the
participants, the Golf Course and sponsors,
especially Genwest Pty Ltd.
For donating 4 lighting towers
to light up the 10th hole, for
the last 10 holes of the day.
