Eighteen older women at risk of
homelessness will move into
brand new North Fremantle homes in
February.
“My Home” is an extraordinary and
immediate response to the housing crisis.
Eighteen homes are being built in Congdon
Street right now, with completion due in February.
The innovative project brings together private
enterprise, government,
and community members to build small,
low-impact homes using Passivhaus principles.
This Fremantle initiative is exciting, alive
and almost complete.
Many organisations are involved pro
bono.
Whilst Rotary has furnished these homes,
it is now time to make them more
personal and homely with bedding, linen,
towels, kitchen equipment and the like.
There is now the opportunity for personal donations both large and small.
Tenants will live in the houses for as
long as required to regain independence and confidence.
For many, their “My Home” house will be
their forever home.
The Community Housing Provider St Pats
will manage the sensitive allocation of home
s to their new residents based on
Housing First principles.
The process targets those most in need
but ensures that there will be a mix of tenants,
who will contribute to the overall well-being
and success of individual residents.
St Pats provides property and tenancy
management services and provides
a link to any support services required to
help the residents manage their lives
and integrate into the community.

RAWCS is responding to the unfolding,
escalating flood crisis by maintaining our National Flood Appeal
through the Rotary Australia Relief Fund
(RARF)
and by opening Rotary Australia Benevolent
Society (RABS)
projects specific to each flood affected area
(these
areas could grow as flood waters move downstream).
Funds raised to date have been directed
through local Rotary Clubs to providing
$500
Rotary Relief Vouchers to those whose homes are uninhabitable and require
immediate assistance.
This is the preferred option of RAWCS and is
the most appropriate use of donated funds
in assisting the flood affected communities.
- RAWCS is seeking the support of Districts & local
Rotary Clubs
- to assist in the distribution of these relief vouchers
within the affected communities.
- To provide the full benefit to these floods affected
communities RAWCS is seeking financial donations
- from Rotary Districts, Clubs, individuals, businesses
and public to support these projects
- using the RAWCS
website project search and donate directly to the individual project
- using the on-line donation link https://rawcs.org.au/disasters/

Camp
Quality gives kids living with cancer the chance to be kids
again, providing a support network
and a range of non-medical support services
for the children and their families
. It aims to provide a better life
for every child in Australia living with cancer.
Camp Quality's programs support the whole
family from diagnosis,
through treatment to remission or
bereavement.
RC Karrinyup has been a strong
supporter of the program over many years.
Along with our substantial donation this year,
a team from Karrinyup Rotary provided support and assistance
for 'Kids Only Time,' a Family Camp held recently in
Guildford. Community Service committee member Ross Daniel
organised the team of John Maker, Peter
Durrant, Tess Gardner, Kay Durrant,
and Neville Pollard (seen with Ross
below),
to provide hands on support to the Camp
Quality volunteers working with the thirty-nine children at the camp.
Tessa Barbaro, Family Program
Coordinator for Camp Quality, was most grateful for the club's valued
and ongoing support as well as hands on
assistance over the years.
She later followed up the evening with a
thank you letter to the club.
'We would like to thank-you all and
especially the Rotary Team again for all your assistance during
Saturday’s 'Kids Only Time' in the Swan Valley.
Not to mention the very generous donation you
have provided us with.
We look forward to using your wonderful
contribution to help our wonderful families
throughout their cancer journeys.

Every December 1st since 1988 marks World AIDS Day It is a day to raise
awareness about the issues surrounding #HIV and #AIDS
Up to 24% of people living with HIV have higher prevalence of serious #mentalillness than the general population Australian Rotary Health recognises the #mentalhealth struggles of these individuals and anyone
else who has been affected by HIV/AIDS
Not many clubs
combine an AGM and Christmas function on the one night, however Moora Rotarians
managed to do just that. We dressed up, elected office bearers, exchanged gifts
and had a few laughs. It was lovely to have Anton back and looking fantastic.
We will see you

Last night we
held our third Dining Hub function at The Third Place . Our biggest yet, 80
residents, Rotarians and friends gathered together for companionship and a
hearty 3 course meal. Xmas themed, we had Sophie and Lydia entertain us and

enjoyed by all involved. Thanks to the Rotary
Club of Karrinyup for their
generous support and participation and Bethany and BJ from The Third
Place Subiaco for making things so easy and for
all their help. Merry Christmas everyone
Congratulations

We are extremely
pleased to have such a superstar on the team.
Was great to
catch up with all of our beneficiaries on Tuesday night and distribute the

Looking forward
to seeing these projects being Completed into the new year
A big thanks to
everyone that come along to last weeks' REQ Annual General Meeting! Sure it's a
legal requirement that we do such things, but we alway love seeing so much of
the REQ crew altogether. Special shoutout to our many successful nominees. We
can't express enough gratitude for their courage in putting their hands up to
help steer the club.

This morning our
Club volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House to cook up a big breakfast for
the residents to enjoy. We had a lot of fun cooking up a storm to provide the
most important meal of the day for families staying at the venue.

Yesterday a few
of our members attended the International Volunteer Day garden party at
Government House, hosted by Volunteering
WA, His Excellency the Honourable Chris
Dawson APM, and Hon Stephen Dawson MLC. The theme of the day this year is
"Solidarity through Volunteering".
Key takeaways
from the event:
3 out of 10 Aussies regurally volunteer, that's
5.8million people!
WA has over 523k volunteers.
Volunteers give an estimated annual contribution of
$290 billion to our economic and social good in Australia.
Big thanks to Matty Pham for sponsoring a table at the garden party.

Rotary Club of
Morley had a Sausage Sizzle on 26 November at Bunnings Bayswater. All proceeds
will be going towards Buddy Benches in Primary Schools associated with 12
Buckets https://12buckets.org/
The idea of a
Buddy Bench is simple. If a child feels lonely or left out, they go to the
Buddy Bench as a signal that they would like somebody to play with. Another
child might notice them and go and talk to them and include them in their
games.
The introduction
of a Buddy Bench is carefully done with the School Chaplain initiating
discussion and encouraging appropriate interactions occurring and monitoring
outcomes with the use of the Benches.
The Rotary Club
of Morley is committed to promoting CHILD MENTAL HEALTH and has undertaken to
coordinate the project to introduce Buddy Benches in the Primary Schools in the
Morley area.
Student
Volunteers from Mount Lawley Senior High School, Rotarians and Friends helped
out on the successful day - thanks to you all.
On Wednesday the
23rd of November, members of the Rotary Club of Greater Geraldton met together
for a night of laughs, food and precision accuracy at the Geraldton Small-bore
Rifle Club.
This Olympic
sport was enjoyed by all, whether they hit or miss.
The team over
there made us feel incredibly welcome and we will definitely be back again.
Several of our
members are volunteering today packing hampers for Foodbank WA together
with our friends from Applecross Rotary.
When you join the Rotary network you can find many opportunities to be active
and make a difference. Our online meeting format makes it particularly easy to
discuss projects, learn, create friendships and fit volunteering into a busy
life. Message us to be involved.

We had the
absolute pleasure of hearing from these fine gentlemen about an ambitious and
exciting fundraiser they are doing to raise money and awareness for Parkinson's
Disease.
Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a degenerative
neurological disease that affects motor function. 100,000 Australians live with
PD, and approximately 37 are newly diagnosed daily. The effects are
far-reaching as those close to them also live with the impact of PD. There is
no cure.
