Recipient of Rotary’s new Sylvia Whitlock

 Leadership Award

 takes a global approach.

The first recipient of Rotary International's

 Sylvia Whitlock Leadership Award,

Chin Mei Lu of the Rotary Club of Taipei Taimei, Taiwan,

has spent more than 30 years working for women, girls,

 and others around the world.

She has helped educate girls in Nepal,

immunized children in India,

supported girls in Uganda who have

 learned to sew menstrual belts,

and helped people in Taiwan who are blind.

"We as Rotarians are like lantern-carrying people

in the dark corners of society,

bringing light to others and helping make the

world a brighter place," Lu says.

The Sylvia Whitlock Leadership Award honours

 one Rotary member each year

who has actively worked to advance women in Rotary.

It is named for the first female Rotary club president,

who went on to lead change for women around

 the world through Rotary.

 The award was originally established

 by a group of Rotarians.

before the Board of Directors voted

to make it an official RI award.

Chin Mei Lu, of the Rotary Club of Taipei Taimei, Taiwan,

is the first recipient of Rotary International’s

 Sylvia Whitlock Leadership Award.

Lu, who has been a Rotary member for three decades,

traveled to Nepal and India in 2006-07

to assist with a project that enabled girls

who didn't have housing to attend school.

She cooperated with local agencies to obtain supplies,

 food, uniforms,

and sponsorship funds for the girls,

many of whom were at risk.

of being trafficked into sex work or child labour.

World Women’s Day 8th March,

was also the announcement of the Sylvia Whitlock Leadership Award.

Took the opportunity at Wednesday’s meeting to say a few words.

on the award which I was honoured to be the third recipient of in 2019.

The following year RI Pres. Jennifer Jones was the recipient,

however due to covid there has been a hiatus in this award.

which was presented again this year to coincide with WWD.

As a past recipient, I was pleased to have been invited to be.

a part of the selection committee and the Facebook

event hosted by RI Pres. Jennifer Jones .

She sets a fine example to the future generations.

We are immensely proud of all of women on the team

and grateful for their service to our community

We want to say a massive thank you for the fantastic turnout

across Sunday and Monday ❤😊

All money raised will go towards Perth charities,

We wouldn't be able to have such an amazing weekend without you all 💛

Keep an eye out for a feedback form in the coming days.

See you all next year!

Why do we cook till we drop?

Because we are famous (well Kununurra famous)

for our delicious burgers available at our

Rodeos and Ag Shows each year …

But why do we do it?

Come along tonight to Hotel Kununurra

and we can share with you some of the things we raise funds for!

For many young drivers,

driving on our regional roads has come at a cost.

RWADE, Rotary WA Driver Educations regional program has been successfully.

delivered in Geraldton for Seven years.

and it’s all about the education of young drivers.

before they get behind the wheel of a car.

 “MY LIFE MY CHOICE”!

A coloured wristband given to each student as a reminder/memento

of the day and the safer driving skills that they have learnt.
