2022-23 presidential initiatives

RI President Jennifer Jones imagines a Rotary where members act to

make their dreams reality and to get the most out of their club experiences

. This year, Jones will focus on four presidential initiatives that Imagine Rotary:

advancing our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI);

creating a welcoming club experience; empowering girls; and expanding our reach.

You can join Jones in building a strong future for Rotary

by learning more about each of her initiatives.

  • Imagine DEI In 2021
  • , Rotary strengthened its commitment
  •  to diversity, equity, and inclusion in order to celebrate
  • each person’s contributions, advance equity
  • , and create an inclusive culture where every member
  •  and participant knows they are valued.
  • Watch a message from Jones about imagining DEI, find inspiration
  • to ensure that your club or district creates a collaborative,
  •  positive, and inclusive environment for everyone,
  •  and take action on DEI issues in your club, district, and community.

  • Imagine Comfort and Care
  • Making people feel included and welcomed is the most powerful way
  •  we can engage members.
  •  Listen to your members to understand why they joined Rotary
  • and what they expect and want from their experience.
  • Watch a message from Jones about creating a welcoming club experience
  • and take the Creating an Inclusive Club Culture course
  •  in the Learning Center.

  • Imagine Empowering Girls
  • Jones will continue the initiative of 2021-22 RI President Shekhar Mehta
  •  to encourage members to improve the health, well-being, education,
  •  and economic security of girls.
  • Share your club’s projects on Rotary Showcase.

  • Imagine Expanding Rotary’s Reach
  • Over the coming year, Jones will visit eight service projects,
  •  each one representing polio eradication or one of Rotary’s areas of focus.
  •  The tour will provide examples of how Rotary can make
  •  a measurable difference, while also introducing Rotary
  •  to new audiences and to potential partners and influencers.

presidential initiatives.

RAWCS (Rotary Australia World Community Services)

has launched the first national appeal for this Rotary Year

through the Rotary Australia Relief Fund.

Project 1-2022-23 is open for donations to support and resource

the Rotary Clubs in the flood affected areas of the Sydney Basin

and surrounding areas (this will include Broke,

 Singleton and other affected areas).

We know that the local Rotary Clubs will be doing all in their powers

to help their communities to deal with the third major flood

in less than two years and will be there for the long haul

when the media cycle and other agencies have moved on.

Immediate support and longer-term activities to shore up the mental well being

of the victims as they tackle yet another clean-up as well

as rebuilding community infrastructure and supporting resilience

is what Rotary does well. RAWCS supports and facilitates that vital work.

Please encourage the Districts and Clubs in your Regions

to support this appeal by visiting www.rawcs.org.au

and following the donation routine. The Sydney Flood Appeal

will be featured on the home page.

RAWCS is also still actively distributing funds raised to support

the victims of the SE Old and NE NSW floods with vouchers

and accommodation from the $900,000 raised through Appeal 47-2021-22

and the delivery RABS project 54-2021-22.

RAWCS has a new statement of what we do, our why statement:

Rotary Australia World Community Service

“Our passion is to help and strengthen communities and individuals

in need through humanitarian projects.”

With the current series of natural disasters in Australia,

our focus on community Recovery and Resilience

 is keeping us busy indeed.

Peter Durrant is leading a district project to assist Ukrainian causes.

 Assistance is sought.

I would appreciate it if you can circulate this email to all your club members

as they may wish to make a personal donation.

As you may be aware there are a significant number

of Ukrainian Displaced People (DPs) in WA

now requiring our care and assistance.

Local Rotary assistance commenced when the Karrinyup club

was helping connect members of the Perth Ukrainian community

with the stallholders at the Stirling Farmers Market

who donate produce each week - which becomes produce boxes

distributed to families who have fled the war to our city.

Early June, 20 boxes were distributed from Yanchep to Rockingham

 and several volunteers coordinate this.

However, supporting new arrivals in several different ways

(airport pickups, organsing school entries, visas etc)

they desperately need more help from us.

Then the Chair and Son of the founding member

of their family’s Greenlight Foundation, Rohan Lewis,

reflected that Karrinyup’s operations fit the mission statement

and aims of their Greenlight Foundation,

and therefore provided a seeding donation of $20,000.

A project - Ukrainian refugee project (RABS) with number

72-2021-22 on the RAWCS national website

has been registered for us to assist.

The sponsoring Club is Rotary Club of Karrinyup,

this is a Western Region project registered for project funding

The RAWCS website is located at

 www.rawcs.org.au.

Tax deductibility is granted through "Rotary Australia Benevolent Society"

 – ABN 54 563 288 318 this will take donors directly

to our secure donations page.

 https://donations.rawcs.com.au/72-2021-22.

May I please request you; your Club and your friends consider

what support you can give in the way of donations

 for this important initiative.

Today we had our member Philip Lako take us through the story of his life

His story inspires us to never give up and that hope cannot be
