RAWCS (Rotary Australia World Community Services)
has launched the first national appeal for this Rotary Year
through the Rotary Australia Relief Fund.
Project 1-2022-23 is open for donations to support and resource
the Rotary Clubs in the flood affected areas of the Sydney Basin
and surrounding areas (this will include Broke,
Singleton and other affected areas).
We know that the local Rotary Clubs will be doing all in their powers
to help their communities to deal with the third major flood
in less than two years and will be there for the long haul
when the media cycle and other agencies have moved on.
Immediate support and longer-term activities to shore up the mental well being
of the victims as they tackle yet another clean-up as well
as rebuilding community infrastructure and supporting resilience
is what
Rotary does well. RAWCS supports and facilitates that vital work.
Please encourage the Districts and Clubs in your Regions
to support this appeal by visiting www.rawcs.org.au
and following the donation routine. The Sydney Flood Appeal
will be featured on the home page.
RAWCS is also still actively distributing funds raised to support
the victims of the SE Old and NE NSW floods with vouchers
and accommodation from the $900,000 raised through Appeal 47-2021-22
and the delivery RABS project 54-2021-22.
RAWCS has a new statement of what we do, our
why statement:
Rotary Australia World Community Service
“Our passion is to help and strengthen communities and individuals
in need through
humanitarian projects.”
With the current series of natural disasters in Australia,
our focus on community Recovery and Resilience
is keeping us busy
indeed.

Peter Durrant is leading a district project to assist Ukrainian causes.
Assistance is sought.
I would appreciate it if you can circulate this email to all your club members
as they may wish to make a personal donation.
As you may be aware there are a significant number
of Ukrainian Displaced People (DPs) in WA
now requiring our care and assistance.
Local Rotary assistance commenced when the Karrinyup club
was helping connect members of the Perth Ukrainian community
with the stallholders at the Stirling Farmers Market
who donate produce each week - which becomes produce boxes
distributed to families who have fled the war to our city.
Early June, 20 boxes were distributed from Yanchep to Rockingham
and several volunteers coordinate this.
However, supporting new arrivals in several different ways
(airport pickups, organsing school entries, visas etc)
they desperately need more help from us.
Then the Chair and Son of the founding member
of their family’s Greenlight Foundation, Rohan Lewis,
reflected that Karrinyup’s operations fit the mission statement
and aims of their Greenlight Foundation,
and therefore provided a seeding donation of $20,000.
A project - Ukrainian refugee project (RABS) with number
72-2021-22 on the RAWCS national website
has been registered for us to assist.
The sponsoring Club is Rotary Club of Karrinyup,
this is a Western Region project registered
for project funding
The RAWCS website is located at
www.rawcs.org.au.
Tax deductibility is granted through "Rotary Australia Benevolent Society"
– ABN 54 563 288 318 this will take donors directly
to our secure donations page.
https://donations.rawcs.com.au/72-2021-22.
May I please request you; your Club and your friends consider
what support you can give in the way of donations
for this important initiative.

Tonight’s meeting with NBN Australia was enlightening.
