ShelterBox aid has arrived in Türkiye.
Hundreds of tents have arrived in country on a
free flight provided by Turkish Airlines from
Panama –
where
we had stock pre-positioned.
We also have stocks of tents and household
items, such as blankets.
and mattresses, en route to one of our existing
and well trusted partners in
northern Syria.
Distribution of warm winter clothing to affected children in northern Syria
has
begun through another existing partner.
Additional ShelterBox response team members
have arrived in Gaziantep,
where a
humanitarian hub has been set up.
Having
an extra team on the ground means we can be more agile.
and work more closely with partners as
we to scale up our response.
Our response will focus on where the need is
greatest across Syria and Türkiye
·
Through the provision of
emergency tents, helping people to shelter from the winter weather
·
The provision of essential
aid items like warm blankets and solar lights
·
The provision of warm
children's clothing in northern Syria
Thank you so much if you have already donated
to our emergency appeal
. Your generosity is the reason we can respond
so quickly.
and get aid to those who need it most. Your support
is incredibly powerful.
The response from our supporters has been
amazing, but the need is great!
What
a fantastic effort from BOTH the clubs in WA
to
come third and fourth in the ShelterBox Giving Day Challenge Dec 2022.
Well done and thanks to all the Clubs
who contributed.

Penny and Jim Morgan from RC of Mundaring
recently opened their garden in Gidgegannup.
to
participate in the WA Open Garden Scheme.
They
thought Open Gardens could be a good fundraiser for other clubs.
Here's a precis of their event.
Entrance fee of $8.00 per person
was
charged by WA Open Gardens.
Half the funds collected are retained by Open
Gardens,
the
remaining half was donated to our choice of charities,
ours being the Rotary Club of Mundaring .
The club food van was on site and also
members.
serving / selling coffee and cakes.
(Purchased from Costco.)
The event raised around $3,500.00 for the
club.
which we felt was a good outcome.
Open Gardens people did a presentation to the
club.
In discussion it was mentioned that they were
looking for a local garden
related
project they could sponsor,
I believe to the sum of $4 to $5.000.00.
I mentioned the Fremantle My Home project.
which they appeared to like.
Open Gardens have come back and asked.
if
there are other Rotary Clubs
that
may be interested in opening members or other gardens.
and fund raising for a garden themed part.
of the
Fremantle project or elsewhere.
The contact for WA Open gardens is Joy
Ross....
