update on the Zone 8 Regionalisation Pilot.
We would like to update you on what has happened since the vote
and the next
steps.
Moving forward, the goal remains to establish
a Regional Governance
structure
to transform Rotary and Rotaract
in our region to better support Clubs to provide relevant
and engaging experiences
that serve our communities and enable us to
grow.
This session will kick-off a series of regular communication that will enable
you to be kept up to date and informed throughout
the next period of the pilot.
With
time zones and work schedules in mind,

In another area Nakervile 290 km southwest of Kampala
is a
refugee camp where 120000 refugees
are subsistence
looked after by the Uganda Government
They are provided with some land to grow vegetables and
build shacks.
The government provides protein in the form of beans to the refugees,
other than that they fend for themselves.
Most of the refugees are from the Congo
Within this refugee camp is a Rotaract Club established in
2016
is one of the fewest clubs in the world
with much blessings
to host the Rotary international
president Jennifer Jones on 5th September 2022,
we shall always remain grateful for her dedication
to serve and change communities..

To mark World Human Rights Day and promote shelter
as a human right,
we'll
be holding our annual Giving Day on Friday 9th.
With over 100 million people made homeless
by disaster and conflict, we will continue to raise awareness
of the issue with our #ShelterIsAHumanRight campaign.
Right now,
ShelterBox I is busy in Pakistan, Ukraine, Ethiopia, Mozambique,
Syria, Yemen and the Lake Chad Basin,
where hundreds of thousands have been
forced to flee their homes.
For many, the COVID-19 pandemic continues
to be a disaster on top of disaster.
Affected communities and people living in overcrowded camps
are left especially vulnerable, with little-to-no space
for self-isolating and social
distancing.

· In Indonesia, VDPV2 was isolated from an AFP case
(7-year old child) with onset of paralysis on 9 October, from Aceh province.
At this time, there is no evidence of circulation.
Nevertheless, Indonesian national and local public health authorities,
with support from partners, are implementing full field investigation
and planning a response as appropriate, including
as a very initial response, an IPV catch-up campaign
in the
immediately affected area.

Tens of thousands of West Australian families will struggle
to put food on the table this
Christmas.
Hunger is a growing crisis in WA with at least half a million people
struggling to afford enough food to eat in the past year.
Sadly more than 100,000 are children.
The 2022 Give a Feed festive season campaign is now underway.
This is a key Rotary service initiative that all WA Rotarians
can actively promote with passion and vigour.

Plans are all set for another wonderful concert
on Thursday, 26th January, 2024, in the grounds of the
historic, majestic Woodbridge House, Ford St, Woodbridge,
on
the banks of the Swan River in Woodbridge.
We’ve undergone a name change to allow more flexibility
in the future and to appeal to a wider age bracket,
with it now known as the Summer Gala Soiree,
the concert not to be
missed.
We have the Freeze Frame Opera truck again as our stage,
the excellent Icon AV sound, it is outdoors picnic style 5-7.00pm,
so please bring your rungs, low chairs, food, drinks
and as many friends, family and colleagues as you can encourage to attend.
Again there will be a coffee van on site for drinks.
Abundant free parking at the adjacent Governor Stirling Senior High School.
Plus the timing allows anyone who wishes to
still catch the light show.

Erin Hegerty from Mama Respond International
Ed Erin explained that Mama Respond is an Australian charity
that currently works in Kenya and Papua.
She said her Perth Board consisting of 6 people
and there are 3 employees in Kenya.
Erin’s first trip to Kenya as a volunteer teacher inspired
her get 2 classrooms built
at the Noonkopir Township Primary School.
This is one of
three public schools in Kitengela district
. Resources were obtained through local donations of
material,
cash and labour as well as using social media
to raise funds back in Australia.
Earlier this year a number of Wheelchairs for kids
(via the RC of Scarborough) were shipped to Mombasa.

it was announced that the recipient of the Rotary Club of Fremantle
research grant was Dr Duncan Purtill
whose research is focused on improving outcomes for patients
with myelofibrosis receiving bone marrow transplant treatment.

Rotary members packing for ‘Give a Feed‘ at Food
Bank.
Ladies packed, men made boxes, kept the benches filled with product,
sealed boxes and disposed of used boxes and plastic.
In total the 6 ladies packed 640 boxes.
We broke
the previous record.
Lots of great fellowship and how good to be able
to
help those who need help.
Last night we had Joshua Morley speak to our dinner meeting
about attending RYLA and how it has affected his life.
He was an engaging speaker and it was a pleasure
and very uplifting to hear about his experiences.
He’d like to attend RYLEAP and become a facilitator
for RYLA in the future.
We also heard from our own member Neil Wilkie
about attending the Dalkeith Rotary Club in Scotland
.
It was very interesting to hear the history of Dalkeith
and we’d like to
establish a connection with our Scottish counterparts.
This morning, the Club collaborated with Subi Action
and Rotary Subiaco to volunteer at the first Subi Suitcase Markets.
We helped to check-in and direct over 40 suitcase sellers to their bays,
and
give out feedback forms
Rotarians Ivan Hunt and John Lightfoot carry out regular maintenance
on the windmill at The Forts
on Mount Clarence, Albany.
The Forts is an old military site dating from around 1890
and is now a museum precinct including the National Anzac Centre.
In 1987 the Forts was restored and the windmill was brought
in from the Millbrook area because it was an older "four poster"
tower type rather than the more modern "three posters".
This gave an authentic replacement for the original windmill.
Through an agreement in 1989 with the then Town of Albany
the Rotary Club of Albany Port accepted the role
of maintaining the windmill.
Recently Ivan and John were there applying their experience again
to keep the windmill turning.
The photos show the windmill, with its Rotary plaque,
in it's setting overlooking the City of Albany.
Ivan and John accessed the windmill gears that drive the pump action.
Ivan had to fabricate a new seal for the base of the butterfly screw
to keep
water out and then reassemble the mechanism.
The job was finished and the windmil
l is ready to roll for the next 6 months!
Recently some of the members organised a catch-up dinner at
Members, both new and old, got an opportunity to network
and share stories with each other.
It's social events like these which strengthens connections within the Club
- Thank you Minh for
organising the dinner!
Members of the Rotary Club of Cockburn volunteered
at the first Spanish Paella Festival.
Great day with plentiful food and culture.
Well done Spanish Club.

The Festival was held a week earlier this year and the weather
was very much cooler and the rain was only a scattered shower
or two early in the morning.
Always a very successful day with so many craft
and food stalls etc.
