Rotary Club of Melville


District Governor Robyn visited the Rotary Club of Melville on Monday night
 and to celebrate World Polio day the Rotary club had a 4m x 1.2m banner
 made up and had it flown from the yardarm of the Duyfken
 moored on the Swan river to help create community awareness 
The banner will also be displayed at the Melville Rotary Market 
and other venues including the district conference in Collie

What an evening we had dinning with Rotary Club of Perth - Western Australia last night! 
 It was too good not to share a few snaps of some special moments.
 We inducted our newest member John McMath,
 and heard from the lovely Katie Liew and all that's happening
 with The Underground Collaborative 
To top the night, together with Rotary Club of Perth and Rotary District 9455
 we presented Katie Liew and The Underground Collaborative 
with a rotary grant of $10,000 in support of breaking the cycle of homelessness

President Geoff Woods presented a cheque for $6,000 to Voiceworks Plus
 for the purchase of a trailer.
 Voiceworks Plus stage manager Mark Williams and musical director Maggie Wilde-West
 attended the meeting to accept the cheque. 
Voiceworks Plus is a choir and performing arts group
 for young people with an intellectuall disability
 The trailer will be used to transport a piano and other musical equipment
 to venues where Voiceworks Plus is performing.

 then pushing a lawnmower carrying a bucket of water
 through a slalom course without spilling any water
 before handing the gloves, hat and glasses to your next teammate.
.. and the winning family won a great family vacuum cleaner
 presented by sponsor Robyn Clarke MLA....

The Rotary Club of Geraldton was a Finalist in this category 
and although we did not win, we were very proud to represent Rotary 
and our RWA Driver Education Program on the night.
Community TAB Community Service Award -
 Congratulations to Don Rolston,
 announced and presented on stage with a framed Certificate as a nominee
 in the Community TAB sponsored Community Service Award category
 recognising more than 35 years of community service in various roles.
RAC Volunteering Award –
 Congraulations to Lee Sice’s mother Dellys who was a 
worthy Finalist in this category.

Many thanks to Councillor Lewis Freer for his attendance and support.
 It was a wonderful evening of celebration of Regional Achievement and Community Service 
across all areas of the State.

Wheelchairs for Kids - this was the focus of the charity fundraising
 at the Floreat Park primary School this semester
. Here we see three of the presenters and the student Council
. Disabled children in poor countries will be the recipients.

Club members and friends enjoyed a day out visiting
 UWA's Future Farm 2050 project
 along with members from the Como Rotary Club.
 It was an interesting day. 
It's forecast the would population will be 12 billion by 2050
 so the project is looking at how food producers can work smarter.

 on Monday Oct 15th Tompkins on Swan
John presented lots of useful information and interesting ideas
 in his talk on Social Media and Business Networking.
 He also showed a video on social media statistics
 that had prompted him to take direct action by presenting
 to business networking groups.
