Since 1962, generations of young people have discovered.

the power of Service Above Self through Interact,

all while having fun along the way.

The first Interact Club was certified on 5 November 1962

at Melbourne High School, in Florida, USA.

A year later, Interact numbered 177 clubs in 24 countries.

. Today, there are approximately 14,900 clubs in 145 countries.

The current generation of Interactors channel their enthusiasm and ideas.

 into projects with remarkable impact.

As Rotary celebrates Youth Service Month in May,

There are some places available in Melbourne for this important event.

"You make a living by what you get.

You make a life by what you give" - Winston Churchill

Thank you to

Volunteering WA

for organising a fantastic awards night

to celebrate and recognise all the amazing volunteering contributions in WA.

Quite fitting too that the event was held during National Volunteer Week.

Congratulations to all the Finalists and Winners on the evening,

it was humbling and inspiring to be in a room full of people.

who are devoted to giving back for the benefit of the community.

Although we didn't win the Community Organisation of the Year Award,

we are incredibly proud being one of the

Category Finalists out of over 230 entries.

We had a lot of fun and joy socialising and sharing our volunteering stories.

with each other and like to again thank all members.

of our Club that make it all possible.

Continuing the celebrations of National Volunteer Week 🎉

, this morning members of our Club along with friends were down at

 Darling Range Wildlife Shelter WA

for a busy bee. Together we planted trees 🌱,

which otherwise would’ve taken weeks,

 shared volunteering our stories,

and got a few happy snaps with the kangaroos 🦘

being rehabilitated at the shelter.

This is our 2nd year helping out at Darling Range

and we thank them for their ongoing collaboration with our Club. 🙏

Congratulations

to all the finalist and nominees of this year's Volunteering WA Awards

. We are grateful to have been selected as the winner for this year’s.

Volunteer Organisation of the year,

out of all the wonderful people who represented volunteers.

 from all over the State.

As President Norm has said before

we don't do what we do for awards but to make a difference in the community.

Congratulations

to everyone who has given time and supported FoC over the years!

A fabulous day at the Volunteer Expo.

Thanks to IPL for the radio interview promoting our cause.

Our very dedicated International Director,

Kim Larsen & Como Rotary supporter John McMaugh

have just returned from a week in Bali to inspect.

our recent joint water projects at various Bali villages.

These projects all completed in partnership with our long-term friends.

at Rotary Club of Bali Taman (RCBT).

Our first successful joint water project was completed with RCBT back in 2007!

Kim gave a comprehensive presentation at our meeting last night.

on a water project completed last year

, and the plans for another,

to save women and children carrying water 5kms daily

up a steep hill over a rough track, back to their village.

Kim signed an MOU with RCBT for the project to proceed in the near future.

All works undertaken by local village labour with strict maintenance plans.

included to ensure longevity of the project over many years.

The local villages are highly appreciative of Rotary’s support in this way.

Como Rotary in motion in overseas communities!

Great work Kim & John.

Last night our guest speaker filled the room.

with her enthusiasm and zest for adventure!

Shiloh Joyce recently accepted a scholarship on the tall ship Leeuwin.

. Her maiden voyage entailed 8 days, 7 nights at sea.

on a working sailing ship with 600 square metres

of space with 42 people on board.

There were some rough seas and lots of swaying round.

and new words to learn such as helm, aft, point of sail and bosun.

A wonderful experience for a year 9 student to have.

Shiloh thanked Rotary for helping her to achieve her dreams.

Shiloh wants to study and achieve her dream of becoming.

a marine scientist. Keep reaching for the stars Shiloh!

Thank you Mandurah ND Centre & Au-some Women

for sharing your story with our local community.

Wow. What a night! Sincere thanks to

 The Rotary Club of Mindarie

for the invitation to present on autism and neurodiversity.

we met Aiva, a year 11 autistic/ND girl who spoke.

with such passion, honesty, and enthusiasm

about what it means to identify as neurodivergent (autism/adhd)

and the need for more research, understanding.

and awareness of autism, especially in girls and women.

Then, to my surprise, I was the recipient of a donation!

Isabella you are a champion.

When 12-year-old Isabella heard we needed volunteers

for Give a Damn Give a Can she put her hand up.

She personally knocked on every door in Oakover Street

asking for food donations.

She even had bags made up with her personal message.

 and a pink ribbon.

Here she is pictured with her food collection.

 More was received later.

A wonderful result - thanks so much Isabella.

Having a great night representing Rotary

at the Conquer Cystic Fibrosis Ball.

Plenty of money being raised tonight.

 Great night Great cause.

 Rotary acknowledged for our efforts.

A huge crowd enjoyed lots of fun at our quiz night on Friday.

We had a special guest quiz mistress in the form of Queen Camilla

who outshone her husband King Charles who dropped in earlier in the night.

Many thanks to a large number of Rotary Club members

who helped make it all happen but special thanks to

Ron Mildenhall, Chris White, and Ross Johnston,

plus, the bar attendants, Debbie and John who sold raffle tickets

 and Rose for her donation.

Apologies if I have forgotten any of our Rotary Club members from this list.

Members of the Rotary Club, Paul, Natalie, Rosinda and Aubin Grove member

and Rotary Club member Geoff and Aubin Grove members

Debra and Fred attended the City of Cockburn volunteers breakfast this morning.

Thank you so much to

Rotary Club of Perth City East

for welcoming our members to your breakfast meeting

this morning with

 The West Australian

 journalist and commentator Ben Harvey.

Ben shared some very interesting stories.

about his time in the media.

, most of which we are sworn to secrecy about,

but a key message he presented was that the news.

we consume today is very different from the news of decades past.

Oh, and he also asked us to be a little gentler on journos.

whose stories have spelling and grammar errors in them.

.. We will try Ben but... 🙄

Bush Fire. Rotary Cambridge members visited the DFES.

Centre of Excellence located in the Peel Industrial Park.

The Centre is developing and promoting the adoption

 of Aboriginal Burning practices.

which allow more frequent but cooler and less destructive fires.

It was very informative. Thank you to Clifton Bieundurry

for being such a good host and leading members through the process.
