......

The Bowel Scan project for the Month of March concluded mid April and again
was hugely successful with over 155 Pharmacies involved in all three Districts.
This is the third year we have been doing this project
and this followed on the success that NSW Rotary clubs
have had with this project over some 25 years.
The public is increasingly getting behind it and all pharmacies welcome
the approach from all Rotary Clubs.
Those clubs who were not in this year , we welcome them in for next year.
Full report on the numbers sold, kits sent for diagnosis
and the number of positives will be made available after our 3 district meeting on 4th June,

Rotary Club of Heirisson
CHRISTMAS in July AT HEIRISSON
Once again Heirisson concentrated it’s Christmas attention on the Salvation Army0
who were represented at our meeting by Jenny Lyden.
Jenny gratefully accepted our contribution of food hamper items,
Christmas gifts plus the $750 cash raised from the Club raffle over the previous weeks.
Well done Ash Braden in organising all of these collections.
Jenny made a short speech to the Club.Jenny was very glad to be back at Heirisson.
She visited us last year and this year it is her only public appearance.
Jenny gave a picture of what Christmas means to the Salvation Army.
• It means hard work, long hours, short tempers and tears
as there are a lot of people in need at this time of year.
• It means worship
• It means visiting people who would not otherwise haveany other people contact.
• It means hearing people say “ what would we dowithout the Salvo’s”.
The Salvation Army strive to make Christmas as happy as possible for as many people as possible and changing peoples lives.
Jenny talked about an 82 year old man “Richard” who had been living in disgraceful conditions—exposed to the elements with very little dignity.
The Salvo’s secured new accommodation for him
and were able to improve his circumstances to such a degree
that he is now putting on weight.
In closing, Jenny acknowledged the support from Heirisson in helping others.
