Come along and support an
International Rotary fundraising event
by the Rotary Club of Matilda
Bay in association with the Matilda Bay Restaurant,
Hackett Drive, Crawley on
18 March, from 6pm to 8pm.
The Club plans to provide
international assistance to the impoverished villagers
of Eraulo in the
Ermera District of Timor Leste by restoring their freshwater supply.
|
The Project
- We plan to
replace 1.5 km of corroded pipeline with irrigation poly pipe
and replace the
collapsed concrete storage facility with a corrugated iron tank.
|
We plan to raise the necessary
funds,
provide and co-ordinate the volunteer labour to assist the villagers
to re-establish their essential water supply.
100% of funds raised
will be spent on the materials
for the project with the club financing any
shortfall.
|
The club's volunteers will
provide their own travel costs from Australia to Timor Leste.
The villagers
will assist with the project on a volunteer basis
and will provide undercover
camping accommodation.
The villagers will regain their fresh
water supply essential
for their good health and wellbeing.
The
club's volunteers will gain firsthand experience working in a developing
country.

The
Rotary Team Challenge offers you the opportunity
to participate in an exciting
team event that takes you
through the picturesque West Australian countryside
along a heritage trail that follows the path of the Eastern Railway
that
formerly linked Fremantle to York in the late 1880s.
The event will be
run over one day,
those choosing to walk can opt for a shorter course.
for teams of 2 to 4 people over 18 years of age.
The
course will take the teams from Bernard Park in the centre of Northam
along the
edge of the Avon River until the footpath meets the Kep Track.
Teams will
then follow the Kep Track through Clackline,
Bakers Hill, Wundowie and Chidlow
to Mt Helena
before switching on to the Railway Heritage Trail
through
Parkerville and the John Forrest National Park
to finish at the location of the
old Swan View Railway Station.

Take a chance on me
Tom Hanks
I
took my nephew out for his first beer yesterday.
Got him a Budweiser.....he
didn't like it -- so I had it.
Then I got him a pint of draft, he didn't like that, either, so I had it.
Then I ordered him a Kokanee, and again he didn't like it so I drank it.
I ended up buying him a Blue, a Canadian, a Moosehead,
a Pilsner, Molson Ice
and a Coors, but he didn't like any of them
and I had to drink them.
Well, by the time we got to the rum and the tequila,
I could hardly push his
stroller home!!!!
