Rotary Club of South Perth Burswood
PRESS RELEASE
As you may be aware the Rotary Hall in South Perth,
built
in 1963, is being demolished and new facilities have been built
at the rear of
the South Perth Council.
The Rotary Hall has been used by the Rotary Club of South
Perth
(now South Perth-Burswood) since 1985,
since when it has been leased at a
very nominal fee to local associations and residents.
The income has been used by Rotary to support
local and international projects.
These
associations (and others) will be able to use
the new facilities from 1
February 2018 by booking through South Perth Council.
The Rotary District 9465 will also Transfer their
Headquarters to the new facility.

Mill Point Rotary Club
donates $100,000 of linen
to
local and international charities

Mission Australia.
ABOUT $100,000 worth of linen was gifted
to more than 20 local and
international charities
as part of a project run by Mill Point Rotary Club.
Club member Chris Herrmann inadvertently started
Project Linen after
receiving a tip off that a mine site
in Pilbara was taking a large batch of
surplus bed sheets to the tip.
Mr Herrmann said he would have been just another voice
bemoaning the
wastage if it wasn’t for the enthusiasm
and professionalism of the his fellow
Rotary members,
who answered his call to reach out to their
affiliated
charities that may have needed the stock.
Mill Point Rotary sorted and shipped the delivery
of 47 pallets,
containing more than 10,500 linen items
from bathmats to doonas, in only five
days
to various not-for-profit organisations, hospitals, colleges and schools.
Linen Project co-ordinator Gerry McGann
said the rapidly formed project
was a great example
of the clubs enthusiasm for working to improve
the quality
of life for others in the community.
“It was a daunting project but seeing the smile
on so many faces
from those at the receiving charities,
made it so worthwhile,” he said.
Recipients included Loretto Fremantle, Bindoon Aboriginal
College,
Borderless Friendship, Foundation Housing Fremantle,
United Care,
Mission Australia, Shalom House and Southcare
