535

Did you know that the majority of Rotarians join Rotary

because a Rotarian invited them?

Join DG Ineke and her team as we explore how you can share

your unique Rotary story without getting tongue-tied

or leaving out the invitation bit!

This will be an enjoyable afternoon where we will learn

from each other as well as from others who do this very well.

Come along if you have something to learn,

something to share or a mix of the two!

It is all on Zoom, to ensure you can attend in the comfort

of your own home and be ‘covid-safe’.

You are also welcome to get together with others

and join in as a group.

We will be finishing with a BYO sundowner.

This is the first of our Adventure series this year.

We are very excited to get started! See you there!

3:00pm - 6:00pm Sunday 28 August 2022

A very special evening celebrating an incredible milestone

of 50 years in Rotary of Bill Benbow.

Joined by family, friends. Rotarians from a range of clubs including

past District Governors and current Asst District Governor.

Congratulations to Bill and thanks to his family

for all their support over the years

. This milestone doesn’t happen very often and we are very proud

to have Bill as a member of our Club.

Denmark Bushfire relief grant is now complete.

Rotary Australia World Community Service (RAWCS) provided

a grant of $100,000 to the Rotary Club of Albany Port

for recovery after the Denmark bush fire.

PDG Ray Hirst and PP Bill Hollingworth managed the distribution

of the funds on behalf of the Rotary Club of Albany Port.

Replacement fencing materials, installed by Blaze Aid,

consumed part of the grant and after discussion with Matt Sivyer

and Heather Moyle of the Denmark Community Foundation

it was decided to pool resources and provide relief

for a wider range of purposes.

RAWCS approved this proposal and 14 different requests totaling

about $75,000 were funded from the RAWCS grant.

More funding could always have been put to good use such

was the extent of the losses.

Ray reports that Heather Moyle provided tremendous support

in the coordination and selection of projects.

A great example of community cooperation.

Our club recently received a generous District Grant of $4000

toward further Water and Hygiene projects for the great work

that the Assisi Centre for Social Justice in Uganda performs.

This grant enables us to donate $8000 to three important projects

that provide permanent fresh water storage for students

and end the need to cart water every day, leading to improved education

 and health outcomes.

 Plenty of happy faces.

The 2022 Science and Engineering Challenge was hosted this week

by the Rotary Club of Bunbury Leschenault.

The event affords students the opportunity to take part in projects

that challenges them in the Sciences and Engineering fields

that is an extension of the subjects students are exposed to at school.

The experience is to encourage students to choose maths

and science in years 11 and 12.

Volunteers from South 32 and other companies sponsored

and volunteered at the challenge along with volunteers

from Bunbury Rotary Clubs.

It was a fantastic day and the students were very creative and enthusiastic.

Playground opening

Lake Monger Primary School Nature Playground was opened by

Premier Mark McGowan and MLA Christine Tonkin on 04 August.

The event was attended by Frank and Jeremy.

On Friday 11 March 2022, the Rotary Clubs of Attadale and Fremantle

combined to hold the LWP Property Group, Charity Golf Day

at Royal Fremantle Golf Club in aid of Care Cure Support

(Motor Neurone Disease) and the Spinnaker Health Research Foundation.

This event has been held for eleven years and in that time

we have raised a total of $472,655 for these beneficiaries.
Attadale Rotary donate their half of the profits to Care Cure Support

 (Motor Neurone Disease)

and Fremantle Rotary donate their half to Spinnaker Health Research Foundation.
John Sharp, Attadale Rotary President 2021-2022,

was delighted to present a symbolic cheque for $23,580 to

Mark Whiteman, for the NFP Charity CARE CURE SUPPORT,

whose objectives are to use the funds to help individuals and families,

as well as supporting WA based research into the cause

and cure of Motor Neurone Disease, through the Perron Institute.
We also appreciate the work Mark does on the day,

in particular his excellent job as MC and as auctioneer extraordinaire.

As well as being entertaining he manages to run a very successful auction.
Chairman of the Charity Golf Day
Rodney Rate

and committee members Gail and Colin McCulloch
