539

Dear Rotary family,

I’ve always been inspired by something my brother David once told me:

“In order to live in the kind of society you want, you have to help build it.”

As people of action, Rotary members have a long history

of creating positive change within our communities and ourselves

. And now, as we begin the 2022-23 Rotary year,

I’m excited to continue the work of growing Rotary

into the organization we want it to be and know it can be.

Delivering on our promise

How can you help?

We want to reflect the communities in which we live and serve.

Invite community and business leaders and influencers

from groups that are underrepresented in your club to participate

 in a club activity.

Encourage a new club member to take a leadership role.

Remove obstacles that could prevent some people from joining your club,

like a meeting time or place that isn’t accessible to everyone.

Our ability to adapt is the key to strengthening Rotary’s future.

Putting members first

Rotary members have demonstrated that when we dream big
— as with our fight to end polio —
we can make our dreams a reality.
This year, I’m asking you to Imagine Rotary
and to imagine a world where we each contribute
to lasting positive change.

Sincerely,
Jennifer Jones
RI President, 2022-23

Rotary Esperance, Unlimited
(Corrina Rawlinson)

This is a story with a difference.

Last year Rotary Esperance voted to induct the daughter

 of a member as the club's first-ever

female member, and in the process created a quiet revolution,

 as Corrina quietly

went about modernizing the club profile as chief storyteller.

Want to convey a more relevant image to your stakeholders,

 and possibly

recruit more second-generation Rotarians?

Come and listen to Corrina's story on Tuesday night.

 departing January 21, 2024,

with proceeds to go to help refugees from the Ukraine war.

Is Antarctica On Your Bucket List?

Here's your chance to tick it off with Silversea

Why take an Antarctica Luxury Cruise with Silversea?

Because it’s the adventure of a lifetime in the least visited place on earth.

A lovely evening, joined by our friends from The Rotary Club of Karrinyup

and held at The Third Place,

hearing all about the different online scams out there.

Jason from NBN Australia certainly made us all aware

of what to look out for.

 Thanks Jason.

We were honoured to receive a gift from Phil and our Karrinyup friends:

The “ jug” was presented to Phil Ledger’s father, Ted.

Ted was a Charter Member of Subiaco Rotary

and was Subiaco’s first District Governor in 1959-60.

( the only other District Governor from Subiaco was Bill Benbow 2005-06)

. Phil said that his father treasured this special gift

and was very proud to have received it.

Phil ( a member of Karrinyup Rotary Club) felt that it was time

that the beautiful silver jug was given to the current

Subiaco Rotary Club.

 Thank you !!

After our meeting we all enjoyed a meal together

at our local Amarin Thai Restaurant.

Thanks to everyone for a lovely evening.
