The
Santos Great Bike Ride for Charity is one of Perth, Western Australia's,
largest community cycling events. Held in November, it attracts thousands of
cyclists from beginners to serious cycling "nuts" catering for all
abilities through the three different ride lengths.
The 53 and 106km course meanders around the beautiful Swan River from the Perth city foreshore all the way to Fremantle, then back to city via the opposite side of the river. It includes a section on the Kwinana Freeway which is partially closed for the event morning.
The shorter 10km Target Family Ride follows the Swan River up to the University of Western Australia before returning to the Perth city taking in the magnificent views over the water towards South Perth.
The event is an important fund raiser for three charities The Heart Foundation, Horizon House and Hope for Children. They rely on funds from the event to continue their important work.

Dial-A- Santa
Ho Ho Ho.. do you have what it takes to be a Santa or Santa’s
helper this Christmas?!
Dial-A-Santa is a WA Rotaract project that has been running for
many years
where families book a Santa to visit them at their home on Christmas Eve.
The Santa will surprise the children by handing out presents
and lollies that the parents have supplied, pose for photos with the family,
then be on their merry way to the next home.
Santa’s Helpers will assist Santa with gift giving,
collecting the money from the organiser,
drive Santa to his destination on time
and assist in spreading the joy of Christmas.

As a Santa, you will be supplied with a full Santa suit,
complete with beard and wigs so don’t worry

Each family that is visited donates $30, which the Dial A Santa
committee subsequently donates to a children’s health charity.

On a lighter note........
Big Bang Flash Mob
Two
fishermen went out to fish their favorite river on a lovely spring day.
After
fishing for a few hours,
neither was having much luck.
Suddenly,
the largest fish either of them had ever seen in the river
jumped right in
front of them.
They immediately started arguing about who should
get to cast in
that area of the river.
Not coming to an agreement,
Not coming to an agreement,
both of them cast at the same time
. Unsurprisingly,
their lines got caught together.
This led to even more arguing until one
fisherman punched the other.
Just then a
game warden came by and broke up the fight.
Each fisherman immediately started
blaming the other
for the altercation. Unmoved, the game warden said,
"Don't give me that.
Everyone knows ...
Taking
his seat in his chambers, the judge faced the opposing lawyers.
“So,” he said,
“I have been presented, by both of you, with a bribe.”
Both lawyers squirmed
uncomfortably.
“You, attorney Leon, gave me $15,000.
And you, attorney Campos,
gave me $10,000.”
The judge reached into his pocket and pulled out a check.
He
handed it to Leon …
“Now then, I’m returning $5,000,
and we’re going to decide
this case solely on its merits.”
