SJ Students Encouraged to Embrace Science as a Core Subject
Primary school students in Serpentine Jarrahdale can
take a closer look at the world around them,
thanks to a joint project by the Rotary Club of Byford & Districts
and the Water Corporation.
The Rotary WA Magnifying Microscope Project is an initiative
of the Chief Scientist of WA, Professor Lyn Beazley and the Rotary Club of Freshwater Bay.
It is also supported by the Science Teachers Association of WA,
an independent association of science educators dedicated to promoting science
and science teaching.
As part of this, primary schools are provided with microscopes
and activity books with which students can study plant structure
and soil composition and learn how plants adapt to available water supplies.
The Rotary Club of Byford & Districts will donate 30 microscopes
to each of the six primary schools in the Shire
and the Water Corporation will contribute activity books.
A Water Corporation Education Officer will also visit the new Waterwise schools
to conduct lessons as part of the Corporation’s Waterwise Schools Program.
The Serpentine Jarrahdale Primary School’s initiative was promoted through the vision
and energy of 3rd year Byford teacher Emma Lord
and the Byford Rotary club then extended the opportunity to all of the schools.
Rotary Club President Tom Hoyer received very positive responses
from all of the primary schools in our area
and so far Byford and Serpentine have received their consignments.
Mr Hoyer welcomed this youth based project and said,
“Thanks to the generosity and service commitments of the Rotary Club of Byford and Districts
and wider community and the Serpentine Jarrahdale Shire
community grants funding arrangements, such important benefits can be achieved”.
Over the next month or so, the primary schools or Marri Grove, John Calvin,
Jarrahdale and Mundijong will receive their consignments of microscopes at their major assemblies.

Something for your enjoyment

On a lighter note

------------

So the woman calls the town psychiatrist and cries,
"Doctor, you've got to come as soon as possible.
My husbandis in really bad shape!"
The shrink rushes over.
The worried wife say,
"Thank God you are here, doctor.
Just go down the hall. He's in the last room on the right."
The shrink goes in the room and sees the woman's husband
sitting on the edge of the bathtub,
dangling a fish line in the toilet.
He goes back to the wife and says,
"Yes, this is very serious.
But why didn't you call me sooner?"
"Who had time?" the wife asks.
"I've been cleaning fish all week."

  3. Simply joining a business online and using their marketing tools and buying leads will not lead
you to success. Being successful can help you be a frontrunner, to state the obvious.
In working your home based business, we all have access
to the same company, product or service, the same corporate staff, support team and the same compensation structure.

  6. I know this if off topic but I'm looking into starting my own blog and was wondering what all is needed to get setup? I'm
assuming having a blog like yours would cost a pretty
penny? I'm not very web savvy so I'm not 100% certain. Any
recommendations or advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers
