Dear Western Region Committee Members and Romac Friends,

Today, Wednesday August 8th - was another very happy day. We met again at the Belmont Food Hall for lunch - Abilio (Billy) and his Aunt Emanuela (Emma) almost becoming 'regulars' and obviously enjoying it.

Brian Vale, Rotarian from RC of Gosnells and Chair of ROMAC in D9560, plus Peter Snell and Jan Roberts from RC of Bentley-Curtin and Lesley Els of RC of Booragoon also joined us.

We then went shopping (K-Mart etc.) with Billy and Emma really enjoying it and getting some essentials.

Tomorrow (Thursday 9) will be another hospital visit day with a dental check for Billy, having had quite extensive extractions and repairs under general anesthetic for three hours yesterday, with no sign of discomfort today.

Peter Snell is then taking Billy and Emma to the Rotary Club of Belmont for lunch, as we are trying to show-case the difference ROMAC can make to a young life in just a few days. It will also give us an opportunity to explain more about how ROMAC works and it's on-going need for Club support.

Tomorrow evening, Billy, Emma, and others will go to see the circus at the Perth Convention Centre - which should be great fun and a real experience to remember for Billy!

On Sunday, we are meeting at "Sharkys" fish shop at Hillarys Boat Harbour at 11am and possibly also be going to AQWA and seeing the Rotary Dolphin Wishing Well doing good turns for good causes.

Please feel free to pass this message on Sunday at Sharkys to Rotarians and friends! We will get some happy snaps!

Thank you kind regards,

Joan Varian

on a lighter note!!

An astronomer is on an expedition to Darkest Africa to observe a total
eclipse of the sun, which will only be observable there, when he's captured
by cannibals.  The eclipse is due the next day around noon.
To gain his freedom he plans to pose as a god and threaten to extinguish
the sun if he's not released, but the timing has to be just right.  So, in the
few words of the cannibals' primitive tongue that he knows, he asks his
guard what time they plan to kill him.
The guard's answer is, "Tradition has it that captives are to be killed when
the sun reaches the highest point in the sky on the day after their capture
so that they may be cooked and ready to be served for the evening meal."
"Great," the astronomer replies.
The guard continues, though, "But because everyone's so excited about it,
in your case we're going to wait until after the eclipse."

  9. As expected, the Free 5.0 is very unstructured and versatile.
I will roll the shoe up into a sphere, and wriggle it nearly entirely about.

Obviously, no one's foot bends that significantly, but it does suggest the shoe will not
provide any construction for a versatile foot.
