Rotary Club of West Perth

Saturday 25 October 2014 saw the first activity by Club members
to bring to fruition the latest MERC effort
- packing beds, etc from Shenton Park Hospital
(now closed) into four sea containers.

A team of dedicated Club members plus Rotaractors
turned up at the site at 8:00am and started locating
the relevant beds, etc from within the bowels of the now disused buildings.
Then, having wheeled them to one of the four containers,
they were loaded and stacked in 'threes'.
Each bed weighs 275kg and we loaded about 70 all together.
That's a combined weight of 19.25 tonnes in beds alone!!!

Ebola Challenge!!

Bridgetown Rotary Club searched the web to find what RI
or other Clubs are doing about the Ebola epidemic.
Apart from another Club in NSW
which was supporting a hospital in the affected area,
and a Rotary Club in Liberia,
there didn’t seem to be much happening.
So we decided to donate $1000 to Medecins sans Frontiers,
which with Red Cross has been carrying most of the load.
We invite other Clubs to do the same thing!

A MUST SEE TAP DANCE DUEL BY U.S SEMINARIANS!!

ROME (AP) — A video of a pair of dueling, dancing American priests
studying in Rome has gone viral,
The Rev. David Rider, 29, of Hyde Park, New York,
and the Rev. John Gibson, 28, of Milwaukee,
first shot to Internet fame when they were filmed in April
during a fundraiser at the North American College,
the elite American seminary up the hill from the Vatican

A high school teacher was arrested today
 at Sydney’s Kingsford-Smith
International airport as he attempted to board a flight
while in possession
of a ruler, a protractor, a compass,
 a slide-rule and a calculator.
At the press conference, the Attorney General
said he believes the man is a
member of the notorious extremist Al-Gebra movement.
He did not identify the man, who has been charged by the AFP
 with carrying
weapons of math instruction.
'Al-Gebra is a problem for us', the Attorney General said.
'They derive solutions by means and extremes,
and sometimes go off on tangents in search of absolute values.'
They use secret code names like "X" and "Y"
and refer to themselves as "unknowns;"
but we have determined that they belong to a

common denominator of the axis of medieval
 with coordinates in every country.
As the Greek philosopher Isosceles used to say,
"There are three sides to every triangle."

When asked to comment on the arrest,
Federal Opposition Leader Bill Shorten said,
"If God had wanted us to have better weapons of math instruction,
He would have given us more fingers and toes."

Fellow Labor colleagues told reporters
they could not recall a more
intelligent or profound statement by the Opposition Leader.

When The Saints Go Marching in
Louis Armstrong and Danny Kaye perform
“When The Saints Go Marching In”
in this entertaining clip from the 1959 film “The Five Pennies”.
A wonderful performance of a classic song with a twist
as they name composers and musicians who would play
“on the day that the saints go marching in”.
