To celebrate the 25th anniversary of this event, Give a Damn, Give a Can
is moving to a more environmentally sustainable format.
So, this year there will be NO PLASTIC BAG DISTRIBUTION!
Rather, we want you to use bags, boxes and other recyclable containers
that you already have at home to donate cans and non-perishable items to the event.
Volunteers from Rotary Club of Bunbury Leschenault and our friends
will still come an collect from your homes on Sunday 6 May between 10am and 1pm,
and will congregate at the Graham Bricknell Music Shell
to distribute you donations to not-for-profit agencies including
Bunbury Salvos, St Vinnies, In Town Lunch Centre for distribution.
There will also be multiple public venues where you can donate
- more about these later -
but they will include schools, council buildings and stores.

Rotary Club of Bunbury

Bob Greig from the Rotary Club of Collie addressed Monday's meeting
regarding the current project of providing a broiler house
under the New Horizons Scheme in Mozambique.
The broiler house scheme appears to be unique in that it produces protein
, in the form of meat, from chickens (male and female)
rather than eggs for sale from hens only.
The project employs apprentices for 2 years to teach them
how to raise chickens en-mass and use the by-product of the manure
to help provide a tomato crop to sell and replenish feed
and new chickens once each cycle has been completed.
As a result, the apprentices will be sufficiently trained
to set up their own broiler house operation in their own locality

Rotary Club of Freshwater Bay

PRID Ken Collins from the RCFB, together with Gynaecologist
Catherine Douglass and Midwives Rtn. Belinda Jennings and Clare Davison
have returned to Raipur, India to provide extra training for the team trained last year,
and facilitate the training of more health workers
 (doctors, nurses and midwives)..
The Government are extremely pleased with the training
which is aimed at reducing the very high mortality rate
of mothers and babies due to childbirth.
Since the RFVTTs first visit 12 months ago,
six of the original healthworkers trained have gone on to train a further 500!
What a fantastic outcome.
This project has come about through
the Maternal and Child Health Rotary Action Group

Beth Redwood from Newman College who was sponsored by RCFB
to attend NYSF was the speaker at our meeting last night.
Beth was accompanied by her parents Nigel and Amanda
 and grandmother Anne Crevald.

 outstanding performance and friendly attitude
of Rosie helping the fitness of the seniors.

It was Margrete's 18th birthday  so we combined it with a

and Jorja Bean-Mundy (David James JPC).
