The Rotary Clubs South Perth-Burswood hosted
the very successful and informative SuperBug Seminar
organised by the Rotary Club of Applecross
on Wednesday  8 May 2019 at the Crown Casino Atrium, Burswood.

Dr Mark Schipp, Australia’s Chief Veterinary Officer
and Dr Colin Hughes, GP and Public Health Consultant.
addressed the meeting on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR)

Some of the attentive attendees.

Anti microbial resistance is on the rise,
and as a starter we can help by washing our hands regularly
and be educated about the proper use of antibiotics

The Rotary Club of Mandurah Districts held
a Superbug Seminar, a discussion on Antimicrobial Resistance
on 8 May 2019 in Mandurah.
With attendance from 6 Rotary Clubs and members of the public
, five speakers gave very informative and sometimes scary forecasts
of the challenges that lie ahead with over-use of antibiotics
in humans and without adequate antibiotic controls
of antibiotics in the food we eat.

Line up of speakers: L to R.
Dr Barry Mendelawitz     Chairman of AMR Aware

Dr Anna George     Adjunct Professor - Murdoch University

Aaron Alejandro     Australian Rotary Health  PhD scholar

PP Carlene Brown     “Wash Your Hands” Project

Dr Mark Schipp      Australia’s Chief Veterinary Officer

Our club recently held our weekly meet at Young Motors,
it was a fabulous night thanks to Jeremy Pepper and his team.
The Pepper family have a long time history with the Rotary Club of Geraldton
with Ken Pepper holding a long time membership with the club.
Jeremy son Louis is currently in Sweden on a 12 month Rotary Youth Exchange
and his family will host our clubs inbound student from Finland in early July.
Young Motors became Holden dealers in 1948
and have gone on to become a multi franchise brand,
including Mitsubishi and Mazda since 1982.

Rotary Club of Moora

We happened to be in Sun Peaks BC on the Friday night
of the Rotary District 5040 Conference.
I think they cover the Sasketuan Area.
We met a lovely Rotarian named Judy Mason who invited us along to meet
with them at a pre-conference function.
There is another Rotarian from Armadale Club 6465 (?
) travelling with us - ex Moora resident Mike and and his beautiful wife Anna Fazio.
We had a lovely time and everyone we met were so friendly and welcoming.
