First meeting for 2020
A VERY enjoyable breakfast at the home
of John Rana and
Leonie Oxley opened 2020
for Palm Beach Rotarians and their partners and
spouses
. Sausage, bacon, eggs, beans
tomatoes, toast, fruit and toast were laid on.
(And Rae Heston’s chooks appreciated the uneaten toast!)

Our last outbound to depart Perth in
the early hours this morning was David
who is very lucky to be spending the
next 12 months in Japan.
He has arrived safely and warmly welcomed by all his
host families.

new homes and are settling in or started language camps.

Speakers this week were Yads Ellegala
(Leader for the second year running)
and Talissa Pratt who was our participant
at RYLA 2020.
Yads was his usually bubbly self and is an excellent PR person
for the Rotary
Youth Leadership Awards Camp.
Talissa, as was expected LOVED her week at RYLA
.
Also at the meeting was Shayani Galhenage
who we sponsored to the Rotary Youth
Program of Enrichment Program.

The Kimberley Earbus, our club's 40th
Anniversary project,
has been in service for a couple of years now.
At our
meeting this week we heard from Earbus Foundation of WA
CEO Paul Higginbotham about the wonderful results it has achieved.
It was great to welcome the ladies
from Karrinyup Inner Wheel
who sponsored the project.
Rotary Ph.D Scholar Aaron Alejandro
gave us a great presentation on
Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR).
He is jointly
funded by a group of Rotary Clubs including Como
Rotary Club of West Perth is
privileged to be a long term supporter
of research in the field of Muscular
Dystrophy.
At this week’s breakfast, we were treated to a very special talk
from Professor Steve Wilton pictured here with Byron Kakulas.
