Do you have an affinity with Latin America?

Many people have been impacted financially by COVID-19.
International students have been hard hit,
with sudden loss of part-time jobs, cancellation of all flights
and family back home also affected.
Many students are skipping meals and have no way out.

Although Rotary in Australia often has a focus on us
near neighbors in the Asia Pacific,
many Rotarians and Rotaractors have a strong affinity with Latin America
due to our long-standing exchange program,
as well as family ties, professional links, travel experiences and
a love of the rich culture that Latin America offers.
The students who are in our communities now
are our neighbors and friends and they need help?
to enable tax-deductible donations via
RAWCS - Rotary Australia World Community Service
to provide much needed relief for students from Latin America.
Somos21 is a not for profit organization promoting greater connection
and collaboration between professionals across Australia and Latin America.
Significantly, the first $15,000 received via
will be matched by a Rotary Australia Compassionate Grant
to make $30,000.
Help us reach this goal before June 30.
If you can donate, please do, or please share our campaign.
Latin American students in Australia needing support can apply here:

Thank you

It is often said that during the worst of times, we see the best of people.
The first six months of 2020 has certainly given us the opportunity
to find out that this is indeed true.
Together we have seen bushfires, drought, floods and a global pandemic.
Our community has stayed strong and at Interplast we have experienced examples
of great generosity, kindness and resilience.
Burns, disabilities and other treatable conditions won’t wait for COVID-19 to end.
Girls and boys, women and men are still needing our assistance.

Thank you for being beside us as we repair bodies and rebuild lives.

A new online peer-led intervention is being tested by
ARH Postdoctoral Fellowship recipient
Dr Louise Birrell, to help young people better support
 their friends through tough times.
Louise is looking for students in Year 9 to
complete 3 short online surveys,
and to use a mobile app for the duration of 1 year.
The surveys will take approximately 30 minutes each
and all participants will have the option to enter
a draw to win a $50 gift voucher.
Sign up or get more information by emailing louise.birrell@sydney.edu.au.
Please share if you think anyone might be interested!

and we hope our contribution of $250 to each student
goes a long way to open many doors of opportunities in the future for them.
