MERC (Medical Equipment Recycling Committee)
that collects and transports superseded medical equipment
in good working order for use in developing countries,
diverting
these away from landfill.
They help supply health clinics and hospitals predominantly
based in Asia/Pacific and Africa which provide health care
to
some of the poorest people in world.
If you have equipment you'd like to donate,
please reach out to our club and one of our members
will organise the collection of the equipment
and keep you updated on where it's going.

At the RCFB Christmas function 19th December,
President of the Royal Commonwealth Society, Terry Spiro
presented PRID Ken Collins with a Certificate of Appreciation
for his significant contribution to youth and the community
and for being an outstanding role model to their young
members.
Congratulations to the Belmont Rotaract team
who raised all the funds for the sports equipment for 27 schools
in this isolated Province in northern Laos.
The staff were sent from all the schools to the District Centre
to receive the sports equipment.
The equipment includes skipping ropes, balls, footballs and nets
and other items to encourage children to play and exercise.
Very poor children received bags and all children who
came into the Centre were given socks.
It is very cold in Northern Laos at
present.
A great catch up with Ron Cole, our last Foundation member, this morning
to present him with an award in recognition of his 42 years of dedicated service
to the Rotary Club of Osborne Park.

19th December was the actual 12th Birthday of the RC Freshwater Bay.
A tradition has developed of the Past, future and current President
cutting a cake to mark this significant occasion.
Those who joined in the cutting of the cake were
PP Simone Collins, PRID Ken Collins, CP and current Pres. Di Collins,
PP Jeremy Foster, PP Rajah Senathirajah and PE Max Hipkins.
A number of those pictured have served in the position on more than one
occasion.
Members, partners & guests attended the 2020 Rotary Club of Katanning
Christmas BBQ,
at the Katanning Country Club, Sunday 13 December.
At our Christmas Party on 16 Dec we also inducted our two new members,
Jillian and Wayne Dawkins.
As President Neil stated ‘it takes a lot of planning
to hold a great Christmas party to round off the calendar year.
A very big thank you first of all to Kerry and Abby Parsons
for holding it at their incredible home,
along with Vanda, Mal, George, Mick, and Erol, Joliene
and Angelica from the Parsons Philippine family
who all helped with the planning and during the night’.

for providing a superbly delicious meal on the night
Final meeting for 2020 featuring a visit from Father Xmas
and our usual fun trying to end up with Lorri's famous home baked
Christmas cake playing 'spiteful Santa'.
A HUGE thanks to Andrew and his staff at the Deep Water Point DOME
for providing us with a special breakfast and for
their excellent cheerful service.
A $200 hamper to thank the local police for their service throughout this difficult year
was received with surprise and
gratitude.
The Rotary Club of Rockingham Board carried a motion to donate a $200 hamper
to be shared by the staff who are working at the Rockingham COVID Clinic.
We decided that these dedicated health workers deserved to be acknowledged
and thanked and they were delighted to accept our
gift.
Former Community Service Director Peter Polain was
on hand to welcome Premier

Men's Shed
last week. The Shed, which was Peter's dream, is set to receive a government funding boost.
The visit was initiated by Balcatta
MLA David Michael.
Club historian Stuart welcomed local author and historian
Chris Holyday to our meeting this week.
Chris spoke about his recent book “Between Beach and Bush
. Remember Old North Beach, Trigg and Watermans Bay”
. The club’s close affiliation and long history of service projects
within
this area ensured a most interested audience
for sponsoring
The Regional Weekender was a regional getaway
providing environmental volunteering opportunities
and building relations between and within the
Rotary Club of Elizabeth Quay (REQ) and Margaret River Rotary Club.
REQ provided 18 volunteers who stayed at the RAC Campervan Park
and experienced the Margaret River region.
The event consisted of gardening maintenance at the rowing club,
weed eradication and finished with REQ volunteers assisting
the mental health walk around Rotary Park
and a BBQ
provided by the Margaret River Rotary Club.
A big thank you to Rotary of Margaret River for their fellowship and hospitality,
a special shoutout to Marilyn, Ley, Maxine, Fran, Julien and Brian.
Not to mention Minh and Kate for organising the event
as well as the members and participants

Rotary Global Citizens program this year .
We hope all 5 students
continue with our club.
The Rotary Club of Kalgoorlie is very proud to be a part of this great initiative
that will give comfort to children who undergo a procedure
in theatre at Kalgoorlie Health Campus.

to pay it forward for the next 10 customers
at our sausage sizzle last week!
The chain reaction of generosity continued,
with many of the following customers opting to pay it forward again
or donate their money to our club.
Generosity is contagious!
We were able to raise $580 for our club,
thanks to all of our members and their friends who volunteered
on the day.
