After the latest two week lockdown in Victoria the DAA team
returned to the office on June 11th.
Out thoughts are with our friends and supporters who are currently
in lockdown in greater Sydney.
June was a very busy month with the normal end of year tasks
combined with creating a submission for The Funding Network
to pitch for financial support.
Here
is what we achieved;
Aid
Provided a $5,000 Smart Aid grant to support a RAWCS project in West Timor.
- Shipped 2 GEM Rapid Response Kits and 1 MAX SkyHydrant
- to Fleurs' Safe Water for Myanmar project.
- Assisted Timor Leste and Mozambique with SkyHydrant
issues.
Publicity and Marketing
- Website and Facebook posts on
- Rebuilding underway in Pamanukan, Indonesia from Smart
Aid Grant
- Smart Aid Grant to the Anandaban Leprosy Hospital in
Nepal
- WASH myths
- Restarting installations in Bhutan
- Revised the quarterly Newsletter template
- Co-ordinated with two clubs for Vocational Visits
- to
take place in July and October
- Created Community Education YouTube video
- for DAA

Financial
The
financial year ended on a high for DAA.
- June was the best month for donations to DAA
- since June
2019 totaling $66,707
- The total income for DAA was $239,144
- (twice what we
predicted this time last year)
- DAA spent $240,661 delivering Aid, including Smart Aid grants
- and Bhutan 2020 installations
- Still managed to reduce Administration costs by 20%,
- some of that is due to COVID restrictions and some to cost cutting efforts
- The financial report for May was distributed
- Donation and financial data was updated to get ready
for year end reporting
- Financial review of the Bhutan 2020 project was
completed
General
- DAA board meeting was held and first draft of minutes
were distributed
- Work continues on Admin policies and ensuring DAA complies
- with External Conduct Standards
- Ratified procedures were reviewed to ensure adherence
- to archiving and document retention guidelines
- Admin End of Year checklist was reviewed and updated
- Salaries for FY 2021-2022 projected and provided
- to
WorkCover for insurance premium
- Directors worked with patent lawyers to finalise trademark agreement
- with regards to the use of Smart Aid.
- Work continues on the Operations Manual including
Display Equipment
- Reviewing UN App for collection of data for potential use
- in disaster response and Safe Water installations.
- Further consolidation of soft copy files on DAA shared
drive.
- Trisha continues to liaise with Tashi and allocate installations
- to Bhutan 2020 sponsors including creating and sending Certificates,
- Thank You cards and information on the relevant
installation.
Due to the current lockdown situation in NSW the DAA
conference may be moved to November.
We will confirm the new date soon.

helping our Club raise funds for Rotary Community Projects.

Today we had Richard Offens as our guest speaker,
Author, Historian and Broadcaster.
His book Perth then and Now was the topic and what
a broad knowledge of Perth and it’s architecture he has!
Ash Ladner also revealed the last Passages Race day raised $72,000
for Passages meaning 1 million has been raised for the project over 15 years.

Burswood and Victoria Park Rotary Clubs.

Over the past few weeks, Mick, Sandra, Jane and Tess from the Rotary Club of Karrinyup
community service team have collected beanies, socks, gloves and small blankets
from various sources, including hosting a stall at the Stirling Farmers Market.
These will be distributed by the City of Stirling in backpacks to the homeless
in our local community to provide some small comfort on these cold winter days.
