510

and we need your help finding the next cohort

of global peace and development leaders.

As a club president, you play a critical role in keeping members informed

about the Rotary Peace Centers programs

. Encourage club members to use their professional and social contacts

to find potential candidates.

They can also support the program by coaching candidates through

the application process and connecting them to districts that can

endorse their applications, a required step in the application process.

These resources can help you and your members recruit candidates

 for 2023 Rotary Peace Fellowships:

  • Take the All About the Rotary Peace Fellowships
  • course to learn about qualification requirements, eligibility restrictions,
  •  the application process, and more.
  • Send emails to your contacts with the fellowship announcement attached.
  • Use our referral form to tell us about potential candidates,
  • and we’ll follow up with them.
  • As we grow our certificate program,
  •  we are particularly seeking qualified candidates for our peace centers
  •  at Chulalongkorn University (Thailand) and Makerere University (Uganda).
  •  The one-year program is intended for working professionals and
  •  requires 11 weeks of on-site participation.
  •  We are looking for candidates with a minimum of five years
  •  of relevant work experience (the average age for this program is 42).
  •  Graduates receive a post-graduate diploma in peace studies
  • upon completion of the program.

Candidates have until 15 May to submit applications

to The Rotary Foundation.

Trained Rotary endorsers have until 1 July to

submit endorsed applications to The Rotary Foundation.

Send any questions about the fellowship program to
Thank you for your dedication to the Rotary Peace Centers
and your help educating Rotary members and
your community about the fellowships.

Sincerely,
Rotary Peace Centers

SAIL INTO LIFE IS ON THIS WEDNESDAY -

SAILING FOR ANYONE WHO WANTS TO

ENJOY THE SAILING EXPERIENCE

Sail Into Life is a Rotary-sponsored program of providing seniors,

people with disabilities and anyone who wants to enjoy the thrill of sailing

with an affordable opportunity to go sailing.

This Wednesday morning from 9.00am, with ideal sailing weather forecast,

members of the Busselton Geographe Bay Rotary Club supported by community volunteers

will have three sailing dingies at the Port Geographe marina to

take anyone who wants to go for a safe sail.

The dingies sit low in the water and, even at modest wind speeds,

zip across the water's surface at a thrilling but safe speed.

Cost for a 20 minute sail is just $5 which covers the cost of fuel used

in the safety boat and to help maintain the boats and other equipment.

If you've never been sailing or if you can't find the time to sail,

here's your chance to have a thrill on the safe waters of the Port Geographe marina.

The outcome of the COVID-19 pandemic on the mental health

 of Australians has been significant.

Let’s not forget about our children’s mental health during

 these unprecedented times.

Badly burnt as a two-year-old, Narangerel

experienced pain for the next two decades.

Despite living in pain every day, 27-year-old Narangerel

 chose to dedicate

her life to helping others, training as a nurse

 in Khuvsgul province, Northern Mongolia.

With her experience in the local hospital,

Narangerel was aware of Interplast

and in 2018, the health care worker became the patient

when she received her life-changing surgery.

We are very proud to have been recognised today by the

Shire of Quairading

for the outstanding achievement of our centenary show last year.

We acknowledge and sincerely thank all who have gone before

us that made this possible -

including Quairading’s newest Citizen of the Year, our very own,

very hard working, current committee member, Helen Fraser.

It is always good to celebrate our volunteers.

At this year's Australia Day awards Byford, Rotary presented its 24th annual

"Service Above Self" award to Ray Thorneloe.

With more than 40 years of service to many and various groups and events

, he is a worthy recipient.

Congratulations Ray and to all of the SJ Shire awardees and nominees.

We would like to congratulate our very own

Sandy Anghie for Perth

for recently being elected as President of the

The Australian Institute of Architects

WA Chapter. Voted in by the Perth architecture community,

we couldn't think of a better person to represent them.

Congrats Sandy!

The City of Busselton is running its 'You Choose' program

where residents of the City

can vote for projects they believe deserve financial support from ratepayers.

The Busselton Geographe Bay Rotary Club

is seeking $20,000 from this program

to part fund its Shelter Bags Project

that will give every homeless person living rough

a comfortable, weather-proof swag to camp in over the winter.

#ThisIsWhyWeCookBurgers ..

. if you'd like to know more send us an email and

we'd love you to come along to one of our Monthly Club meetings!

In October 2021, a mental health awareness walk was held in Shoalwater

. This was a collaborative effort between

the Baldivis, Palm Beach and Rockingham Rotary Clubs.

The proceeds from the walk were donated to support three community groups,

South Coast Health and Community Services,

Naragebup Environmental Centre and IPL Radio.

Tonight, we had the privilege of having Dr Gill Walker from South Coast Health,

Pauline Whitehead from Naragebup Environmental Centre

and Trystram Reddick from IPL Radio

tell us about their organisations and the services

they provide to the Rockingham Community.

Summer Cricket in the heat.

Friday evening sausage sizzles have started up again at

 Wembley Districts Junior Cricket.

This was all under new Covid rules.

However the event went well in spite of a low turn-out due to the heat.
