Rotary Club of Margaret River
The Rotary Club of Margaret River
received its Charter from RI on 17 February 1960.
It was chartered with 24 members.
The Charter President died before the Club could hold its charter night,
so the President Elect took over.
The Club is celebrating its birthday year by:
· Carrying out major improvements to Rotary Park at the entrance to town
· Initiation a literacy project to encourage Year 1s to read regularly,
Reading Rabbits (in conjunction with the library)
· Undertaking its major project of building a basket ball/sports court
at Punmu in the far North West
· Putting on an exhibition of all its past and current projects in the foyer
of the Cultural Centre on Wallcliffe Road during the whole of February
· Having a celebratory dinner on Saturday 20 February at Voyager Winery
with around 100 guests
· Hosting an inbound, univocational, GSE team from the Loire Valley
wine region of France for the week of the celebrations
· Holding a joint meeting with Busselton & Bunbury Clubs
on the birthday evening at Australis Hotel
at which the GSE team, and the GSE team
Busselton & Margaret River Clubs sent to France last year,
will be present
· Getting plenty of media coverage for all events!
If anyone is visiting Margaret River, they should take the time to visit the Cultural Centre and see the display the Club has put on recording its history and the many Rotary projects with which it has been involved in its 50 years.
thanks President Marilyn Hopkins
