Rotaract Club of Rossmoyne
The
Project
The Thousand Paper Cranes project was
conceived after Rotaractors
traveled through Japan and had the
opportunity to visit the
Children's Peace Monument at the Peace Memorial Park,
in Hiroshima.
In addition, they learned of the tale of the construction
of the Nara Daibustu (Giant Buddha),
of the Nara Daibustu (Giant Buddha),
an effort in which Emperor Shomu called on the
people
at large to contribute towards the project,
in however a humble way.
Through this project, we wish to see clubs and groups
from all over the world
partake in a unified effort to promote peace
and increase awareness of the
peace-building capabilities of leaders,
such as Rotary Peace Fellows,
through
the folding of paper cranes,
which symbolise both our desire for
and commitment towards a more peaceful world.
and commitment towards a more peaceful world.

Rotary Club of Geraldton
On 1st June we had visitor Gordon Frost from Wheelchair for Kids
come
and speak to the Geraldton Rotary clubs
at a Joint Rotary club meeting.
It was
a great way to kick off Fellowship month having
the 3 Geraldton clubs unite for
a special presentation
on Wheelchairs for Kids.
Wheelchairs for Kids was commenced by
the Rotary Club of Scarborough
in Western Australian in 1998,
building and
distributing them to needy children in developing countries.
With the support
of the Christian Brothers
including a Christian Brother as workshop manager,
the project now has a pool of over 150 local retiree volunteers,
producing and
distributing up to 300 wheelchairs a month.
Also, hundreds of (mainly) ladies
throughout Australia knit rugs
and dolls to go with the wheelchairs.

DARWIN POST
DARWIN POST
(Last Tuesday),
This is a story of self-control and marksmanship by a brave,
cool-headed woman with a walking stick against a fierce predator.
Here is her story in her own words:
"While out walking along the edge of a creek
just outside of our house in Darwin,
with my soon to be ex-husband discussing our property settlement,
Kids and other divorce issues,
we were surprised by a huge 5 metre. Crocodile
which suddenly emerged from the murky water
and began charging at us very fast with its large jaws wide open.
The Croc must have been protecting her young
and her home because she was extremely aggressive.
If I had not had my little $5. Dollar Reject shop
walking stick with me,
I would not be here today!
Just one Hard Wack to my estranged husband's
knee cap was all it took..
..The' Croc got him easily
and I was able to escape by just walking away at a brisk pace.
The amount I saved in lawyer’s fees
was really incredible and I got the lot
