Rotary Club of Geraldton Greenough

On Monday President Tony was fortunate enough
 to meet 2y.o. Kobi Rumble
. Kobi's mother was killed tragically in a road accident last year,
and in addition to Kobi now having to grow up without a mother
he also has a challenging medical condition
in which his femur has not grown in one leg.
There is a medical procedure available in the USA
which will cost $100000 and Kobi's grandmother
and Aunt have raised $50000 so far.
The Glenfield IGA community chest presented Kobi
with a cheque for $3200.
In addition to this we donated a cheque for $1000 form the Club
to assist in meeting their costs.
Kobi is an amazingly bright young boy
and it is these sort of beneficiaries that rotary can help
and really make a positive difference in the world.
More details on Kobi can be found at

Rotary Club of Attadale

The Rotary Club of Attadale have taken on an International Project in Ethiopia.
The theme of the project is 'Fighting Poverty through Education'.
To make this project successful the Club needs to raise money
to Refurbish and Expand The School of St Yared
 in Addis Ababa Ethiopia.
To achieve this outcome, members of the Attadale Rotary Club
are approaching other Rotary Clubs in their District
to ask them to also contribute money for this worthwhile cause.
The story of how Yared Wolde, who was orphaned at six years of age,
rescued and then educated by Nuns, is amazing in itself.
Yared developed a passion to help children similar to himself.
He eventually met Jacquie Gilmour from 'Hope for Children'
and with her established The School of St Yared in 2009.
Amanda Huxtable (a teacher at Santa Maria College in Attadale)
has been travelling to The School of St Yared in Ethiopia
 for a number of years.
She works there through December and January teaching the children
 and mentoring the staff.
Her passionate involvement in all aspects of the school is inspiring.
The Rotary Club of Attadale are delighted and privileged
to be able to work with Amanda on this worthwhile project.

WIN Compilation October 2016

------------------

A coast guard cutter is on patrol in the Gulf of Mexico,
off the coast of Florida, and they spy a small boat.

As they approach, they see that it is a small row boat
occupied by four Mexicans.

The Captain gets on the loud-hailer and shouts,
“Ahoy, small craft.  Where are you headed?”

One of the Mexicans puts down his oar, stands up, and shouts,
“We are invading the United States of America to reclaim the territory
taken by the U.S. during the 1800’s.”

The entire crew on the destroyer doubles over in laughter.
When the Captain finally catches his breath
, he gets back on the loudspeaker and asks,
 “Just the four of you?”

The same Mexican stands up again and shouts,
“No, we’re the last four.
The other 12 million are already there!”
