ShelterBox again participated in the ScoutsWA Scouts Challenge Zone
 at the Perth Royal Show.
There was a lot of interest in the ShelterBox contents
and delivery to people around the world who have lost their homes through disasters.
The addition of a photo frame for visitors to take fun photos
 caused a lot of interest.
Our display was staffed by WA ShelterBox Ambassadors,
 Rotarians from various clubs, including
eWA, Roteract Rossmoyne, Roteract Perth City,
a participant in the current Youth Exchange Programme from Italy,
Friends of the Rotary Club of South Perth-Burswood
and a young lady from Nepal who was on duty in a hospital in Katmandu
when the earthquake struck 20 months ago
so has first hand experience of the trauma of such a disaster.

The Scouts are very proactive in assisting with ShelterBox
in disaster zones around the world
along with local Rotary Clubs in the affected areas.

We had the pleasure of the Hon member for Kingsley
Andrea Mitchell MLA and minister for Mental Health & Child Protection
speak at our annual Hat Day event to raise funds

The event was generously supported by many sponsors
from the Scarborough area who donated prizes for the best Hat and for the raffle.

Hat Day, an initiative of Australian Rotary Health,
one of the largest not-for-profit funders of mental health research in Australia.

100% of the money raised during this year's Hat Day campaign

goes directly to research helping the one in five Australians
affected by depression, anxiety, schizophrenia and many other illnesses.

On Monday 10th October Bob Lindner our clubs vocational service director
presented Lolo Sinclair from Manna the Pride of Workmanship Award.

This was awarded to Lolo in honour of her hard work at Manna cooking
devotedly to help feed those less fortunate.
Manna was the recipient of our Copper Kettle Funds
 during the previous Rotary year;
we were even lucky enough to be able to help Lolo with cooking
one weekend and then assist to serve the food.
