Help
us, help out Orkeeswa School in Tanzania to raise money
for a new school bus.
Orkeeswa School is a community-based secondary school
located in Orkeeswa
Village, an under-served Maasai community in rural Tanzania.
By
providing free education within the village, in a country
where less than a
quarter of the population has access to secondary school,
Orkeeswa offers the
only opportunity for most of their students
to continue their education past
the primary level.
In 2012 our club helped raise money to build a computer room/library for
the school.
A growing student body has put a strain on the schools
transportation resources.
Without sufficient transportation some students have
to walk over 30kms home
. Due to safety reasons this means they can’t participate
in extra curricular activities
because they need to get home before dark.
You
can show your support in a few ways:
By
purchasing a ticket in our wonderful raffle for
your own chance to win the
$6000.00 travel voucher.
And/or by sharing our raffle within your community

Rotary Club of Attadale
One of the most exciting Youth Programs for Rotary in Australia
is the
National Youth Science Forum that inspires Australia's leading young scientists
.
In all the years of Attadale Rotary selecting and helping financially
to get
successful student applicants to Canberra for this project,
we have never yet
been disappointed.
Approximately 200 students from all around Australia
meet
not only with leading science professionals,
they have the opportunity to mix
with like-minded students.
Sam Wende is a typical example of a returned student
from this project.
The fact that he had a session with a Nobel Prize winner for
science
simply overwhelmed him.
In fact he had stars in his eyes as his hero
studies the solar systems.
Meeting with other leading scientists, Sam has
decided to major in Psychology
as he wants to work on the science of the mind.
His presentation to the Attadale Rotary Club last Monday
evening included
teaching members a song and dance routine
the students were shown by group
leaders on the bus
. It was a lot of fun and showed what a remarkable young man
he is and one that will go far in his future endeavours.
The National Youth
Science Forum is a project that must continue
as it helps students along the
path to successful careers.
This was another great meeting at the Rotary Club
if Attadale.
