During October
The Rotary Club of Rockingham
welcomes Tracey Scott,
our newest member
. Tracey has already been very active
in the club helping organise
our Twilight Markets that start this Friday.
We thought we'd squeeze in one last
cheeky member induction
before the year was through!
Welcome to the club Jason!
Jason's parents and sister are in the Rotary Club of Belmont
and he's been involved in various Rotary programs in his youth.
Last night we welcomed our newest
member Hayley Edwards
Great meeting, welcome to the Baldivis rotary family Hayley

Thanks to everyone who attended this morning's breakfast
at the Hyatt Regency Perth!
The
lovely folks at the Hyatt were also inducted this morning

There aren’t many jobs where
you can save three lives
by spending an hour relaxing and for many people,
donating blood is both easier and more rewarding than they’d imagined,
and it’s even
better when you do it with your fellow Rotarians!
A third of us will need a blood
donation in our lifetime.
Red25’s ambitious goal is to unite organisations
across Australia to donate
25 per cent of the 1 million-plus blood donations
needed every year.
Rotary WA is encouraging everyone to get on board!
When booking the online
appointment or if a walk-in, donors need to ensure
they are registered with
their district group:
* For district 9455 the group name is:
Rotary Australia District 9455 (Part of
WA – Perth and North)
* For district 9465 the group name is:
Rotary Australia District 9465 (Part of
WA – Perth, South and East)
At the end of the donation window, the tallies from each of these groups
will
be added to give a total donation number from Rotary WA.
(Ps: You do not have to be a
Rotarian to donate!
Family, friends and colleagues can all donate to form part
of the Rotary WA count!)

Our Club is honoured to have been
named
as a ShelterBox Silver Champion for 2018-19.
ShelterBox is proud to be Rotary International’s
Project Partner in disaster relief. 🤝
In 2018, the generous support of Rotarians across the globe
helped ShelterBox
provided shelter and life-saving items for 42,000 families
robbed of their
homes by disaster and conflict.
That is 210,000 people helped on the road to
rebuilding and recovery.

Young
people kicking goals! 💪📢📢
Meet Wilder Rowe,
he was
named the Peel Youth Volunteer of the Year last night.
At just 16 years old,
Wilder is an asset to our Mandurah Community.
Some of his achievements include being a part of
the
Making Waves Youth Leadership Group,
where he has facilitated conversations
with students in schools about what
challenges they face in Mandurah,
planned a
youth forum to inspire young people to think
of solutions to tricky challenges,
planned the incredible Beats Under the Bridge
and delivered the Living my Best
Life Youth Alcohol Campaign
, encouraging young people to wait until at least 18
years of age
before they start drinking.
He is also a Mentor for Youth on
Leadership Camps
and every year volunteers for YohFest, traveling the state
running Australia's biggest health themed youth performing and visual arts
events.
Community Service Director Mike is seen here with Choon Tan
from The Pinnacle Foundation,
a new recipient of our support this year under the Rotary
International
and Rotary Club of Karrinyup strategy of Diversity and Inclusion.
The Pinnacle Foundation provides educational and vocational support
to young adults for
whom their gender identity, sexual orientation characteristics
have prevented
their achieving career aspirations or personal development
. The Foundation
offers a spark of hope for these young people

Christmas
A fun meeting despite missing
President Mick.
Our visiting Rotarian Anne Hayward from Rotary Club of Albury North
was a
terrific guest speaker with absolutely no notice
and we all enjoyed hearing
about her 72 member club.
The guys cooked 540 sausages and we had 280 rolls.
Paul
& Lyndy prepared 6 vegetarian meals and 2 gluten free
so that made life
easier as we could direct special diets to Paul to serve
. Neil challenged Vick
to go down the big slide
and this cost Neil $50 when Vick took up the
challenge.
Yesterday our club president Louise and our youth champion Hayley
were
invited to attend the Intensive English school graduation
at Cyril Jackson
College.
Five classes of migrant, refugee and asylum seeker students
celebrated
their graduation from Semester Two.
It was
a true pleasure to attend the ceremony
and we left feeling inspired by the
passion and dedication of the teachers
and the students.
Big congratulations to all the students who are heading
into the next
chapter of their lives!
We look forward to collaborating further with CJC in
2020.
and we're celebrating the contribution that Rotarians
are making
to their local communities!
Let's keep sharing our stories with the world.
