Good
Afternoon,
I am
inviting Rotary Clubs of WA to apply for
a National Road Safety Week event
grant of up to $5000
to
raise awareness and shine a light for road safety.
This could be achieved by
holding a community event
and/or lighting a local landmark/s, bridge or iconic
building/s in yellow light.
National
Road Safety Week is from 3–10 May, 2020.
It is an annual initiative created by
the
and
is supported by the State Government of Western Australia,
including the Road
Safety Commission.
Every
year, more than 1200 people are killed
and 35,000 seriously injured on
Australian roads.
In
remembrance for those people who have sadly lost their lives on our roads,
and
for the families left behind,
Western Australian landmarks across the country
regions
and including Perth locations such as
Yagan Square, Elizabeth Quay, the
Bell Tower,
Trafalgar Bridge and Council House,
will light the night in yellow
light, across the week.
Community events honour those we have lost and ask
community
to pledge to make the roads safer for everyone,
to drive so others survive.
In
previous years, State and local government
and community groups around WA have
had grants
approved for a variety of activities,
including lighting the night
with local/regional iconic buildings
in yellow light, holding road safety
seminars,
bicycle safety workshops, cycling events, a morning tea pledge
to
Drive So Others Survive, Road Safety Quiz nights,
and many more.
I
would be happy to discuss your ideas and
guide you through the online
application process.
In addition, to promote the availability of these grants
with your community, can I ask that you share the attached
social media post on
your website to encourage local schools,
service clubs, local community
organisations
and groups to apply online and participate.
If you encountered a technical issue
earlier in the week,
our apologies, the
issue has now been resolved.
In the event of the same error,
please clear the browser cache
through the history settings of your browser,
and then reload the
National Road Safety Week 2020 Community Grants page.
I am
happy to discuss this opportunity
and can be contacted on 1300 999 772
or via
email at grants@rsc.wa.gov.au .
Thank
you for supporting this important national initiative.
Kind
Regards
Karen
