On behalf of the Rotaract in WA team,
We would like to congratulate our current DRR Eeshwar Rajagopalan
for being
re-elected as the DRR for 9455 and 9465 for 2020-21!
Having been an outstanding Rotaractor in both Australia and India,
Eeshwar has
always shown a willingness to take on extra roles
and his effective networking
has further helped promote
the great work we do here at Rotaract.

This week's meeting was a Partners
Night with a (now)
well practiced guest speaker Sian
, who recently returned
from a year-long
Rotary Youth Exchange in Finland 🇫🇮
and
made a very interesting presentation for us
about her wonderful year away
. Sian
has grown into a beautifully confident, worldly
and self assured young woman
ready to launch herself into university studies.
Guests
present included Sian's father Alan; DGN Dee Buckland;
Jill Hanna (Sian's
Placement Officer
on the District 9455 Rotary Youth Exchange Committee)
and soon-to-be new member Karen and husband Jim
A great combined Peel Rotary group
catch up tonight.
Lovely to see so many members from the 3 clubs along
with
many guests, including Rotaractors and youth exchange students.
Rotary Club of Karrinyup has
supported Camp Quality for many years,
so it
was great to have WA State Manager Nadine Magill,
seen here with our member
Ross, along to our meeting this week
to give us an update on recent
activities
. Camp Quality gives kids facing
cancer the chance to be kids again,
providing a support network and a range of
non-medical support services
for children living with cancer and their
families.
Several club members shared a lovely social
evening
with the Karrinyup Inner Wheel
and extended Rotary family members
at a
recent International Fundraising Barbeque.
Karrinyup Inner Wheel President
Diane Brennan,
seen here with RC Karrinyup President Richard Prunster,
was
delighted when it was announced that $500
from the International Service budget
had beeen allocated to support the
Karrinyup Inner Wheel's International
project
This non
profit organisation seeks to achieve safe motherhood
for women
in Papua New
Guinea and to provide birthing kits.
Among a number of guests at our meeting this
week
we welcomed visiting Rotarians
Lindsay Francis and Lois Van
Baalen
RC Karrinyup Honorary Member Ray Richards
and first time
visitors Mick Rogers and Jen.
Our long standing member Vic Dennis is seen here
sharing
a quiet drink and a good catch up with Ray and getting to know Mick,
who was a guest of Heather Leaney.
Members were delighted that Ray came along
especially
to hear our guest speaker give an update on Camp Quality.
On Monday, Mellie recounted her week at the RYLA
(Rotary Youth
Leadership Awards)
. Key focuses were 'living above the line',
learning to
accept responsibility
and trying not to blame other people for your actions.
There were lots of challenges and fun opportunities
such as Salsa dance
classes, getting up early to meditate
and exercise, hiking for a day with a
very old map,
learning to be part of a team, climbing crates then taking a leap
of faith,
mind games and public speaking.
Como Rotary Club is a proud supporter
of the
ARH Indigenous Health Scholarship
commencing in 2019
. Our sponsored
medical student Tahnee Carter
has now completed her third year
of studies and
we are looking forward to seeing Tahnee
back at our Club to provide an update
on her last 6 months.
We have recently renewed our sponsorship for 2020,
as
part of our Community Services support.

Jes visited South India last November
for the opening of a Dialysis project
which the RCFB had an involvement with.
He also took the time whist there to
visit a primary school where a toilet block
was built as part of a WASH
project,
gifts to students provided by Rajah and Jes,
a Womens Empowerment
project - training in tailoring in 15 centres
in low socio economic area,

ShelterBox area Coordinator was speaker
at the RCFB meeting last Wednesday.
David made an excellent presentation on this great project which
originated in
Cornwall 20 years ago.
He not only told of the beginnings of the project,
but also provided updates on
shelter kits, solar lights and so on
Despite the rain last night, we had a
very enjoyable social evening.
Our guest speaker spoke eloquently about primary
school education
and building resilience in our young students
. Once again the
salads prepared by Foodworks were yummy
and meat from Purser’s and cooked by us
was also yummy.
Great news this week!
Rotary Club of West Perth,
under the guidance of our amazing Tina Arthur
International
Services Director, were able to provide the use
of a storage container to
transport some generously donated medical supplies.
They are on their way to
the Nokor Tep Women's Hospital in
Cambodia.
These supplies included consumables as well as operating theatre lights
and
machines to dispense medical gases during the operations they perform.

Thank you to all who donated.
Your contributions will make a world of
