Welcome to Vicki C our newest Rotary Member.
We trust you will enjoy your engagement with our club
and know you will make a wonderful Rotarian

Dr. Hamid Sohrabi was formally inducted into the RC Freshwater Bay
at our meeting on 18th March.
He is the head researcher for Prof. Ralph Martins
at the Australian Alzheimer's Research Foundation.
Hamid will be heading up the research for our Music for Dementia project.
 Welcome Hamid.
Thrilled to have you join us after first being introduced
to the Club many years ago

President Be Westbrook
proudly inducted past Rotarian Martin Sadle
into the RC Mandurah Districts.

He received his membership certificate and package,
saying he was pleased to join such a fantastic group of caring people.
This takes our busy membership to 32.

We also welcome Martin’s wife Christine.

President Richard gives a new slant to 'extending the Rotary hand of friendship'
with an elbow bump in welcoming new member Mick to our ranks.

Our International Division with Diana Godson
as Director has been very proactive this year
 in supporting many different causes.
Our club supported Water for Africa
a charity based in Perth, Western Australia
to establish a water resource in Ifwagi, Tanzania.
Why we helped?
Ifwagi Health Centre in Tanzania was on Water for Africa's waiting list.
It works alongside the local District Hospital but they were
in a critical need as they had NO water available.
The water they did use was brought in by bicycle
 and was often contaminated.
Why we helped?
Phil Hepworth, CEO of Water for Africa presented to our club
to see if we were interested in sponsoring such a project as the need
in their project region is so great and they are always looking for new ways
to partner together with like-minded people.
How much did we contribute?
We sponsored the project for $10,000
How our sponsorship will help?
This project will help thousands of people as they receive treatment
and be assisted back to good health.
The center includes a new birthing ward that assists with the delivery
of newborn babies with safe clean water.
How the funds were spent?

A deep borehole was drilled and safe clean water is now available at this health center,
this project will be looked after by our local in-country team to ensure clean
water is pumped for years to come.

And after the jam- packed meeting on 9 March,
we took a break on 16 March to visit the Canning Community Men's Shed
organised by Club Director for Vocational Service, Kevin Baruffi.
Shed President Steve Pusey gave us a tour and filled us in
on its short but eventful history.
And afterwards we dined at the Foo Wah Seafood Chinese restaurant
with our RYE student, Johanna, and partners,
Dave Henderson, Maureen Webster, Liz Doerksen
and several of their friends.

The Moora museum opened its door to the Rotarians from Moora tonight.
Nothing too spooky but do yourselves a favour
and check out the museum. Well worth it.
Pauline Roberts from Dandaragan spoke of her recent visit
to Kangaroo Island with a group of farmers from WA
 where they repaired burnt fences.
 Quite the experience for everyone.
Great effort to Blaze Aid the organisers.
