Did you know that many medical
facilities,
when upgrading equipment,
will leave old equipment in storage for
years
before disposing of it?
This equipment could save lives in
other countries.
that collects, sorts, packs, and
transports superseded medical equipment
for use in developing countries,
diverting these away from landfill.
They help supply health clinics and
hospitals predominately based
in Asia/Pacific and Africa which provide health
care
to some of the poorest people in the world.
Donations to the MERC's efforts are
always welcome
and greatly appreciated, as many of these facilities
simply
cannot function without the support of organisations like us.
If you would like to donate equipment
or would like
more information on how you can help
support this project, please get in touch
with
Tina Arthur via our Club.

Congratulations to our club member
Marie,
who was recently appointed a member of the Order of Australia.
Here she
is mentioned in the local Reporter newspaper
, on the work the not-for-profit does to connect
current and former military
and emergency services personnel to community through
purposeful volunteering, social activities and mental health support.

A few Como Rotary members, including
JPE Clementine Kohler
and the Carson Street School Sewing Group,
visited our
wonderful friends at Start Over Support (SOS) today.
This was to follow up the kind offer
from Brad & Kathy at SOS
to accept donations of material and cottons from
their supplies
to support their sewing for the children at Carson Street
School.
Also to take a tour over their large warehouse,
which is well organised
with many volunteers on hand,
and very impressive.
SOS support women and children who
need to set up home,
escaping from crisis domestic situations,
which during the
recent COVID-19 times has been on the increase
in our community, therefore
causing extra demand on SOS.
The Sewing Group accepted material
for their needs,
and also accepted material to be passed on to the
Rotary
Containers for Timor project.
Thank you Brad& Kathy and the SOS
team.
This is Community collaboration at
its best!
Como Rotary Club is a proud Community Partner with
SOS.
What a welcome!
The "Art Instructors"
were welcomed back to City Beach Primary School
today
after a Covid enforced absence.
It was great to be back - thank you Mari,
Alison and Sue.

At tonight’s dinner meeting, Darrel Donovan,
Community Director, presented two more of our Rotary Community Grants.
They went to Allana Vegar, representing the chaplaincy
at Hillman Primary School
and Graham Martin from the Rockingham Marine Rescue.
And we’re back!
It was so good to
host our first in-person Rotary Club meeting
for some months, after an
interesting few weeks on Zoom.
