Well we have finally finished delivering our pamphlets

 promoting our upcoming

Wine and Cheese information night to the residents of East Perth.

If you want to learn more about our club or Rotary in general

feel free to come along!

It was a big night for the Busselton Geographe Bay Rotary Club

 last Wednesday night.

Not only did Pat Bignell receive a well deserved Paul Harris Award

but we inducted four new members into the Club.

And the gender balance in the Club has been forever improved!

Well done to all involved and welcome to our four new members:

Rachael Martin, Tyra Wainwright, Julia Spark and Debbie Mastaglia

DG Jon Bilson visited Swan Rotary this week,

he is pictured here with President David Uhe

 and President Elect Manny Braude.

It was a great night, innovative and inspiring with plenty of laughter

and, as always, good food and fellowship.

Huge congratulations to Geoff for his efforts in raising funds and awareness for

End Polio Now

 last Friday.

Geoff wanted to share a brief message with everyone.

"Many thanks to all my financial supporters - it was very much appreciated.
Only a few Rotary members joined the train during the day
and I was the only one to complete a visit to all possible stations.

Leaving home at 8:30am, I caught the train to Fremantle to start my journey.
When I alighted at 5:10pm I had achieved my aim of visiting
all 85 stations on the Perth network – a total of 139 stops.

With your kind help, my total sponsorship yielded $1187.50.
With the Gates Foundation’s help, that means $3562.50
 towards the fight against Polio.

The Mandurah Districts photo competition.

Olivia Plant, who lives in Canning Vale was the winner

of the Youth in Focus prize and DGN Patricia Schraven asked

if the award could be presented at our meeting,

being somewhat closer to Olivia than Mandurah.

Olivia brought the whole family and we had two

Mandurah Districts Rotary members presenting the prize.

Then, of course, our very own Jeff Spickett

was the winner in the Open Section.

What an fun night we had scaring the residents of Baldivis

 all while raising funds to

#endpolionow

Thankyou to

Karen

and

Alan Steel

who put in endless hours of work and masterminded the whole event.

Thank you to the many volunteers and to all who came along, we hope you enjoyed it

President Richard presents

Street Chaplains

coordinators Rosemary and Simon with a much needed portable defibrillator. Local MP

Tony Krsticevic

notified us of the need and, as 'People of Action', we acted.

Ken and Sandra from our

Rotary Club of Karrinyup

International Service Team were sharing the message with the community at the

Today we did a bit of team bonding and participated in

True Grit - Military Inspired Obstacle Challenge

💪🏻💪🏻

We're feeling a bit tired, bruised and burnt but we had a so much fun

and are already looking forward to running again next year.

Gathering and recycling plastics, REQ members and friends enjoyed a day

of volunteering at WA's first PET plastic reprocessing facility on Saturday 24th October.

We also learnt how GreenBatch is repurposing plastics for local education purposes,

made new friendships and learnt new skills!

Thanks to the Rotary members and friends who helped at the last BBQ

at the Sports Aircraft Builders Club at Serpentine. On the hottest Day

so far we provided a great sausage sizzle plus onions on 1st.

This was a shared experience with the benefits being spread around

Thanks to Peter, our Vocation Director, for organising the tour

of the Co-operative Bulk Handling Kwinana Terminal.

The Perth Rotary Club hosted a Vocational Visit to

Greenbatch

. It was an informative, inspiring and intriguing look into the world of

recycling and waste management here in Western Australia.

So much more to do in this area,

but wonderful to see some progress being made. Reduce, Recycle, Re-use

Foodbank CEO Greg Hebble joined our meeting this morning

on his way to the office and collected member's food donations.

Greg advised that our food collections will provide the equivalent

of 76 meals to those in need.

Our secretary Chris Whelan, feeling a little more relaxed about

the pandemic management, donated his COVID food contingency suppl

y and Greg assumes the meals provided will now exceed the 76 equivalent number.

At last week's meeting, we welcomed the Dowson family,

who have been beneficiaries of the

Perth Children's Hospital Goldfields Family Assistance Trust Fund

, a fund established to assist families with sick children

needing to travel for medical assistance.

It was great to hear their story, as the fund is run with the patients

and families details kept anonymous to all club members,

except for 3 board members who will deal with the claims.

The fund is also not means tested and is available

to all families living in the Goldfields.

Thank you so much to Haylie and Phil for sharing Taytens story

and great to hear she is doing well and enjoying life.

It is fantastic to see the difference we can make.

Congratulations to Sarah Yates from Our Ruby Girl in Manning received

her Pride of Workmanship Award from

President Clementine and Pat Pinkus 🎉🌈

Last night saw a group of Rotarians from all three of the Geraldton Rotary Clubs

get together for a great night of fellowship with a Halloween theme.

A beautiful meal provided by Carly topped off a lovely night.

 Huge thanks to the organisers!

Delegation from the Rotary Club of Hillarys

visited the new factory of Wheelchairs for Kids in Wangara.

We had a lovely #GetOnlineWeekAUS Morning Tea and Three at the Library

on Friday with a small group of Rotarians and community members - thanks to

Good Things Foundation Australia

for the grant to make this possible.

Our Digital Mentors are keen to have regular tea and tech chats at the Library

-

Thanks to the

Kununurra School & Community Library
