Recognising the significant impact of burns injury in Fiji

, and the need to continually improve local capacity to treat burns,

Interplast is pleased to be able to continue to support our Fijian partners

to deliver training to local medical personnel, even when we aren’t able to be there in-person.

This week our colleagues at the Colonial War Memorial Hospital in Suva

are hosting a Burns Nursing Seminar,

which Interplast is pleased to be able to support, as part of our

Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade

ANCP activities. Interplast Nurse Educator Jan Rice will present,

remotely, on wound management for burns.

This seminar includes nurses from across the Fiji Islands.

Supporting our local partners to deliver training and professional development initiatives

like this demonstrates huge progress towards sustainability of specialised clinical care in Fiji,

and we couldn’t be prouder to play a small role in this.

Foundation night in the Rotary calendar is an important event.

We had a smaller than usual crowd but we still had fun. Jon Bilson DG

gave an interactive and interesting presentation.

I went away “thinking”.on how we can make Rotary more relevant in Moora.

Thanks to the Moora Bowling club for a fantastic meal.

Colin presented a Bronze Award Certificate to Brian.

This is an award for Rotary Clubs donating over

$100,000 to Rotary Foundation.

MR Rotary has donated $144,543.75.

He also gave a certificate for donations to END POLIO.

. He is still going strong at 92!

$31,000 what an amazing night.

Thankyou to everyone who attended, bidded, won items

or just came along and enjoyed the night.

Steve Mills as always, did a brilliant job as our Auctioneer

and Glenn Wilson as our MC really made the night.

Sporting Memorabillia, Adult Toys, Bottles of Wine and Champagne,

statues, portraits and even a pair of thongs were auctioned off last night.

Thanks again to our sponsors and donors for their support.

Our attention turns to our online items now,

which are available for viewing at the

Kalgoorlie Country Club until 4pm today.

Then our Northern Star Community Carnival on Sunday.

We are now 24 hours away from possible!

A massive thank you to everyone that has shared our event

, pulled strings, called up mates, collected from the burbs & gone shopping

 for tomorrow’s food drive.

We want food in bellies & warm hearts for all this Christmas.

Help us make this possible by donating tomorrow ❤️

Working with other Rotary Clubs is fantastic and it’s no exception helping

out our good friends over at

Rotary of Elizabeth Quay

.
Tomorrow they are organising a food drive for

Vinnies WA

and needed some extra non perishables to pack Christmas hampers.
What better person to ask than President Matthew who on behalf to

Midland Supa IGA

donated a trolley full of goodies.

With Christmas just around the corner it’s a reminder to be generous

to those in need and less fortunate than us

Heeding the call to support the

Festive Food Drive for Vinnies

conducted by the

Rotary of Elizabeth Quay

,

Rotary Club of Karrinyup

members responded with a fabulous collection. Member Kay

will deliver all the goodies in bags from our

Stirling Farmers Market

Tonight we are very proud to give out our Mal Robbie Award for Community Service

to Denise Ladhams and her team at the

Bunbury SOUP VAN

for the amazing work helpling the poor and homeless.

It was wonderful to receive an update from Solomon Mbusa

on the outcome of the MERC

(Medical Equipment Recycling Committee) equipment

that has been distributed in the Congo.

Solomon provided an overview of the charity that he works for

called The Murimo Centre, which is seeks to address

poverty and hunger by educating the local community

in sustainable integrated agriculture that will create job sustainability

and food sources for local communities.

Below you can see an example of medical equipment donated

as part of MERC through West Perth Rotary Club

being used by those who need it most in Pinga Walikale in the Congo.

We look forward to hearing more from Solomon

following his return from the Congo in a few months.

Thanks to everyone who donated to the Cans for Christmas appeal on Sunday

. We just received the results from Foodbank and Mosman Park

collected the second highest amount - over one tonne of food,

which was 53% higher than our previous record!

Thanks to the local families who volunteered and had a great time with their kids,

distributing flyers and hunting for donations.

If you would like to get involved next year please message us via Facebook.

After a very successful AGM - the future of our vibrant

#Rotary Club of Palm Beach Inc WA

is assured with a new Board ' in waiting' elected to take over in June 2021.

Our guest speaker tonight was Jane Davies,

the Business Development Manager at Bridging the Gap

. Jane explained that Bridging the Gap has been part of our local community

for many years providing a range of Federal and State funded programs

that deliver employment, career development and training services

through its partnerships with local community based organisations

across the Perth to Peel region.
Jane went on to outline their latest project which is Containers for Change.

The Rockingham Rotary Market is now a community partner

in this project which seeks to increase recycling and reduce the number

of drink containers that litter our environment in Western Australia.

Jane stated that this new project has provided Bridging the Gap

with a secure funding stream that also helps the protect

the environment at the same time

It was a privilege for 4 of our members to serve the sausage sizzle

for the Armadale March Against Family Violence

. Graham S, Greg W, Peter C and Peter W had fun serving the hungry crowd

that turned out in Memorial Park for this important event.

Rotary Joondalup was happy to do a sausage sizzle last night for the LADDs

(Loving and Devoted Dads) Currambine Primary School.

This is the second year that we have been invited to support LADDs

at the camp out on school grounds.

The evening included movies, fire appliances, marshmallow roasts,

sausage sizzle dinner and tasty breakfast in the morning.

A quality night was spent with fathers and kids in tents

on the school ground despite the sometime inclement weather.
