#rotaryclubofrockingham members and guests from Baldivis
Rockingham and Freshwater Bay Clubs were delighted
to welcome Premier
Mark McGowan to this evening's meeting.
The Premier spoke about his life and passion for his family,
life in the navy and politics.
Mark McGowan was raised in country NSW, educated in Law
at the University of Queensland before choosing a career in the Navy
and
eventually a posting to Stirling Naval Base in Rockingham.
He shared that initially he was not excited about the move
to an unknown state on the other side of Australia.
However, driven by his desire to make a difference in his career
and many years of dedication and determination he has enjoyed success
in both his private and public life - he
now loves WA!

Last Friday, BRC was so pleased to sponsor a family fun day
during the school holidays for the MMRC
(Metropolitan Migrant Resource
Centre).
The MMRC has pioneered and facilitated the settlement and participation
of migrants, refugees and the CALD community
in
Western Australia for more than 25 years.
As well as financially supporting the event,
which included a bus to transport MMRC clients to Lake Monger,
a sausage sizzle and a volleyball clinic run by Volleyball WA,
several BRC members joined in on the day - sizzling sausages,
leading a walk around Lake Monger to enjoy the native wildlife,
and honourably losing several games of volleyball.
The MMRC is a very important organisation serving our community
- Learn more about them at
Thanks to Allie and the Vocation team for organising a great family day in Harvey.
The day started with a walk across the Harvey Dam,
we then moved on to May Gibbs cottage for coffees or shopping, lunch
was at the new brewery at the Wokalup Tavern
followed by some wine tasting at the Harvey River Winery.
The afternoon was completed with a visit to Harvey Cheese Factory
for some cheese tasting and a talk on cheese making by
the President of the Harvey Lions.
