US $2.0m Grant applications now open  -  “Programs of Scale”

The Rotary Foundation is once again providing an opportunity

for Rotary members to access longer-term resources

to implement large-scale, high-impact programs in our Areas of Focus.

Programs of Scale support a competitive grant process resulting

in one award of US$2 million from The Rotary Foundation

that is distributed over a three- to five-year period to a club-

or district-sponsored program showing success and readiness

to expand to help more people in more places.

Concept notes in relation to an application for this Grant

must be provided by 1 August 2022.

A helping hand for much needed research projects run

 by the Spinnaker Foundation.

The money was raised at the Rotary Clubs annual golf day.

Further to a large donation of new winter rugs, socks, children's clothes,

hand knitted beanies (thanks to our club member Chris Bucktin) ,

sleepwear and toiletries to the Chrysalis House Women’s Refuge

(a program supported by the Desert Blue Connect),

the Rotary Club of Geraldton donated $2000 for the desperately

needed towels, prams and cots, as currently there is no such provision

when infants come in the Refuge.

In collaboration with the Rotary Club of Morley,

Men's Shed Bassendean, and Midalia Steel,

Como Rotary Club presented the latest Buddy Bench to

Camboon Primary School

This is part of an ever increasing distribution of the Buddy Bench

through the combined efforts of Rotary Clubs and Men's Sheds ,

both north and south of the river.

Morley Rotary Club is the latest club to join the partnership

and has agreed to be the lighthouse club for the northern district.

This project started from the initial idea of a partnership between

Primary Schools, Men's Shed and Como Rotary

just over twelve months ago and now has delivered 20 benches

to enhance the Mental Health and Well being programs

of participating Primary Schools.

Community Service team member Neville introduced Alanagh,

who gave a most interesting presentaton on

 Cycling Without Age - Sorrento

active in our local community.

The Jacaranda Festival is run by the Applecross Rotary,

and is totally planned, managed and run by local volunteers.

Around 600 volunteer hours are given on event day alone!

This is a mammoth effort, and we thank each and every one

of our volunteers for kindly giving their time.

Come and see the magic that they have put together

on Saturday 19th November in Ardross St, Applecross.
