Unsung Heroes Award Ceremony
The Unsung Hero today was Evelyn Read.
Evelyn has been a volunteer at the Perth Zoo since 1982
when the volunteer organisation was first established.
Her primary role as a guide
or as she is officially known as a Docent
is to talk to the visitors but there are many
other areas Evelyn has taken responsibility
for these last 32 years.
They range from looking after the animals mental
and physical health, to collecting Termites as
animal food, to fund raising,
 to maintaining the Zoo archives,
to keeping all the other 30 odd guides happy
 and content with their roles.
The Mill Point Rotary Selection Committee
was unanimous in their decision to award the
2014 Unsung Hero Award to Evelyn Read

 Spot the odd one out!!

Lets go for a ride!!

An American astronaut has an emergency during his re-entry
into earth's atmosphere and his space craft
 crash-lands in the Australian bush,
way out in the middle of nowhere.
After what seems like an eternity,
he wakes up in a bush clinic, very rustic, dirty,
with foul smells and he is bandaged from head to foot.
He sees a very large, somewhat gruff looking nurse
approaching him as he lies in his cot.
"Did I come here to die?" he says
with a deep sense of resignation and fear.
 "No," the Aussie nurse replies,
 "You came here yesterday."

Very Clever Ad

A planeload of Pepsi flying over Africa had a malfunction and went down.
A few weeks later, the Pepsi Company sent a rescue plane.
They searched the area and found a tribe of cannibals.
They walked up to the Chief of the tribe
and asked him if he knew anything about the crash.
The Chief said, "You betcha!"

When asked where the crew was, the Chief replied,
"We ate the crew, and we drank the Pepsi."
The Rescue crew were shocked.
One man asked, "Did you eat their legs?"
     The chief replied,
"We ate their legs, and we drank the Pepsi."
     Another rescuer asked,
 "Did you eat their arms?"
     The Chief replied,
"We ate their arms, and we drank the Pepsi."
After looking totally perplexed for a minute, a third asked,
"Did you... you know... eat, their... their 'things?'"
     The Chief says, "No."
     "No?" asked the rescuer.
     "No," replied the Chief.
"THINGS go better with Coke."
