Fay Jackson improving mental health in the workplace

Australian Rotary Health gave Fay Jackson
a launchpad to fulfill her passions in helping people
living with mental ill-health to succeed in the workplace.
Once feeling herself like she didn’t have much to offer,
Fay is now CEO of Vision in Mind and
Deputy Commissioner of the NSW Mental Health Commission

On March 17th, 2015,
the founder of our Indigenous Health Scholarship Program,
 Geoff Bailey, passed away.
In 1999 Geoff realised that only 40 out of the 64,000
qualified medical practitioners in Australia were of Indigenous descent.
His vision for Closing the Gap continues to grow through
 the Indigenous Scholarship program.

and how it continueshttp://bit.ly/1JsKAtm

Rotary Club of Cockburn

Busy meeting this week with a visiting Rotarian from Mt Lawley,
 welcome Louise.
Zonta House Refuge Assosiation Manager Kelda Oppermann and Angela Perkins
Coordinator told us about their work at Zonta House.
This is the largest refuge in WA providing safe,
 supportive, respectful help for women.
Sad to hear how women keep returning and in some cases
the staff are now seeing daughters and even granddaughters.
Domestic Violence continues to be the number 0ne killer of women.
This is a community issue that we all need to become
involved with to change attitudes.
It was interesting to hear the support and innovative ways
these ladies are using to help ladies in distress.
We also welcome Liana,
Carl's partner and Gabriela our exchange student from Brazil.
Next week Gabriela moves to a new family.
