Rotary Club of Wanneroo

The Rotary Club of Wanneroo  have supported
the  Banksia United Aboriginal Multisport Program
over the last 8 years by supplying
uniforms ,boots and sporting equipment.
Banksia United, a partnership between the Edmund Rice Centre WA
and Relationships Australia’s Moorditj Yarning Program,
was originally an Indigenous soccer program
that was first launched in 2011
 to provide opportunities
for local Aboriginal children and youth along with their families
in the Banksia Grove area to be part of a team,
using sport as a medium to foster leadership abilities,
build relationships and community capacity and provide
a positive alternative to the many negative influences
that can impact on young people.
The program introduced multicultural understanding
 in a culturally safe environment,
addressing negative stereotypes
and perceptions of cultural differences,
engaging young coaches and volunteers from multicultural backgrounds
with extensive experience in delivering soccer sessions.
An amazing rapport was built between
the coaches and participants and their families.
On Saturday 23rd June the Rotary Club facilitated the sausage sizzle
and reaffirmed the Programme at a special function

at Koondoola Recreation Centre.

Western Australia

Early starts are worth it when you're getting up for views like this!
It might officially be known as Carlton Ridge,
but ask any local and you'll likely hear this large rock formation,
located near Kununurra inAustralia's North West
, called Sleeping Buddha or Elephant Rock.
 And they're both correct too!
To see it as Sleeping Buddha, head to Celebrity Tree Park in town
to view the rock from the side.
Then you need to look at it from the end to see the resemblance
of an elephant's head.
This can be seen from Packsaddle Road
or by travelling on the upper Ord River towards Lake Argyle
. It's quite the sight to see at any time of day
 but especially so at sunrise
