Rotary Club of Fremantle

Fremantle 1945 ,
Freo Rotary doing what they have always done for 90 years,
 supporting our community
. War Savings Group met on Nov 6 1940.
It was resolved that a Sub-committee containing
Scanlan Bateman Oxbrow and Miller
approach his Worship the Mayor to formulate a scheme for
War Saving Certificates CHRISTMAS DINNER 1 9 4 0

It was originally' decided by the Directors to dispense with this function
and substitute the gift of 10/- hampers to deserving cases
as a Christmas Cheer from each member of the Club.

This decision was upset at the Weekly Luncheon on 11th December
by members expressing the wish that we hold our usual Christmas Dinner
 accompanied by our Ladies.
But it was made clear that we carry on with the Christmas Hampers too.
It is good to state that both efforts were highly successful.
It was resolved that Rotarian Claude Terry be granted Leave-of-Absence
for the duration of the War and be absolved from paying his fees.

It was resolved that a letter be written to the District Governor stating
that the Club had granted Leave-of-absence to all those on Military Services
 absolved from paying any fees.

It was resolved that letter be forwarded to Rotarian Bob Menzies Military Cross
to his son for conspicuous on the awarding of the gallantry at Alamein.
It was resolved that a letter be sent to Captain C.R. Dunkley
congratulating him on his wonderful service
 with the troops in Timor
