In 2021,
Rotary celebrates the first 100 years of community service across
 Australia and New Zealand.
One hundred years of nation building projects
changing peoples lives for the good.
 New legacy projects are now in place to launch us into the next century;
Child vaccination in 9 Pacific Islands,
 ending trachoma in indigenous populations
, tackling domestic violence,
planting 100 peace poles with 100 schools,
and a baton relay to remind all Rotarians how we are all connected.
These are the foundations to inspire Rotarians to launch
their own centenary projects that help change the world

Induction of Honorary Rotarian Prof Andrew White House

After over forty years of faithful service, retiring member Tony,
seen here with President Richard,
 was presented with Honorary Membership.

At our Changeover Night earlier this month,
long-serving Rotarian, Colin Ryniker was recognised
for his unstinting service to the club and the community
by the awarding of a Paul Harris Fellow with Sapphire.
When the award pin arrived from Rotary International this week,
we found that it had been upgraded to a Paul Harris Fellow
 with Double Blue Sapphire!
Apparently, an anonymous member had already sponsored
Colin’s award some years ago so our latest award
has moved up to the next level.
Congratulations Colin!

ROC has come a long way over the last few years
and while it has taken a lot of work, most importantly,
it has taken a lot of heart.
If you know Cat, you’ll know she is a person with a very big heart!
If anyone needs help, she’s always there.
If anyone needs someone to listen, she‘s always there
and if anyone needed advice,
Cat always has good advice to give.

At the Canning Vale Primary School Assembly this morning (29th July)
, PRID Ken Collins presented Principal Daniel Bergin
with a Certificate of Appreciation from the RC Freshwater Bay.
This Certificate was ready for presentation at the commencement of the School year,
however, life rapidly became irregular early in the school year,
making it only now the Certificate was able to be presented.
This is in recognition of the absolutely amazing effort by all students,
parents and teachers for donations of food and non perishable items
which was enough to provide in excess of 70 hampers for the less fortunate.

These two amazing people were recognised as
'Unsung Heroes' at our breakfast meeting.
Steph Hodgson combines leadership skills as Manager of volunteers
as well as volunteering three days per week.
Steph has revitalized the Op Shop, making it more customer friendly,
raised the standard of merchandise offered,
the presentation of the shop with a commitment to customer service
and community engagement.
A bonus for people who are socially isolated and want to chat.

Josh Serafini had been homeless ‘off and on’ since he was 16
and full-on homeless since 2015 and sleeping rough since then.
With his firsthand knowledge and direct access to a number
of relevant networks of people and agencies
Josh was keen to share all of this and give something back to the community.
He did so through Home Karawara
and is still doing it providing friendship, advocac
y and community dinners for the homeless
and socially isolated living in Karawara.

Our unsung heroes deserve the recognition
 for their services to humanity!

Farewell to Rotarian and Past President Craig Woodhouse ,
28 years of faithful service to Rotary.
Happy full Retirement.

Today we visited Maria and her team at the Nyoongar Outreach Services.
What an amazing job they do to help First Nations kids and families.
What a great insight into their operation.
Well done to Lachlan and Jonas for organising a great vocational visit.
